mickeybritt: I have NO PERCENTAGES as I am not as close to the issue as Merritt is. He knows what his engineers are working on. He knows how many patents go into any product/application they are working on. Just like cell phones, there are MANY PATENTS THAT MAKE CELL PHONES WORK AND MANY FINGERS IN THOSE PIES AND MANY CHEFS IN THOSE KITCHENS.
IF IDCC CAN GENERATE BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS down the road annually, then why aren't Apple, Intel, Microsoft, Samsung, Cisco, Broadcom, and the likes offering to buy out IDCC today at $250 per share IF in 3-5 years IDCC will be generating billions and trillions of dollars in revenues? Because they have analysts who are thousands of times smarter than you and I that look at these things and in their mind know what you say ain't gonna happen (at least for IDCC)
SO, maybe you are correct and IoT will generate billions and Billions of dollars each year for InterDigital, but after taxes and bonuses, it will result in $100 million to shareholders in the form of net revenues.

mickeybritt: Smart meters have been installed in Illinois. In Niles, IL, we had smart meters put into our condo complex 2 years ago. JimLur said recently Frankfort IL had put in smart meters earlier this year. Four years ago in Park Ridge, IL. they installed smart meters at our home. AND I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IDCC TECHNOLOGY WAS IN ANY OF THEM.
IDCCfan: Great response to Mickeybritt, especially the part
WOW ! I thought I recognized someone here:
GE stock is a ‘screaming buy,’ a ‘spectacular opportunity,’ strategist says

And Q's 52-week high is $70.24.
Qualcomm is trading at $66.58 -- $2.00 higher today. It's pointing to a higher offer price over the $70 initial price, or at least the street thinks the $70 price is inadequate also.
Hey, start low and bid it up if needed.
JMO
I had a strong hunch that Q would reject the first $70 offer.
Next price tag is $75 - $80 range, with Q still rejecting the sweetened offer.
Whether that will bring a third offer to the table or just an offer to buy all the shares available at a price in that range is yet to be determined, but I think will make one additional offer around $82.50 for the whole ball of wax.
After all, if Broadcom's key customers have positive feedback (including Apple), then Q's battle with Apple might go by the wayside if Broadcom is successful in the buyout.
What Qualcomm should remember is 'A bird in the hand' (one of Broadcom's offers) 'is worth two in the bush' (QCOM's legal battle with Apple which MIGHT result in a loss of the Apple buisness and would cost tons of money to defend !

Plus, the changes affected by the new accounting rules may further delay their reporting.
AND, they may be waiting to hear from ZTE about a settlement before it goes to damages determination in the court system.
HOWEVER, they could also issue an updated guidance as they have done in the past when something happened between guidance day and end of quarter.
pierre3: Whenever they feel it is appropriate.
Typically, guidance is done between the 8th and 28th of the month. Sometimes, they wait if they have something big pending before they announce their guidance. This way, they can look like a hero!
In the past, rev guidance was
08-22-17
05-11-17
11-28-16
09-08-16
06-21-16
11-08-15
Seems they never issue guidance in the February timeframe.
olddog: Thank you for your 'comment' to mickeybritt on the LG issue. Sometimes, I think I am losing my mind (especially when mickey brings his interpretation to the table).
Thanks
mickeybritt: I think you were mistaken when you said
mickeybritt: What the hell are you talking about?
mickeybritt: Every time someone tries to explain things to you, you still challenge them in what they are telling you.
We have gone around and around on the LG award, the Microsoft/Nokia settlement, the Huawei agreement, the Qualcomm agreement, the IoT projected revenues, etc. etc. etc. No matter what we say or post or explain, you still question posters on their interpretation.
You do not seem to comprehend what others intend to impress upon you your disposition of incomprehensibility!
That is why I and others tell you to contact the company and ask THEM to explain what they do and say and what things mean. Get it straight from the Horses mouth !

Gamco, I like that thought even more. It may result in some competitive bidding for IDCC's patents.
Whoever would wind up with InterDigital, it would be a win-win situation for the successful bidder as well as IDCC.
Gamco, As I am a 'gambler', I would put book that Apple wuold support the Broadcom acquisition of Qualcom, settle all disputes in licensing fees, and establish a long-time relationship with Broadcom.
I would further bet that Broadcom would relocate to U S facilities, perhaps even taking home office at the Qualcomm location.
I would even go out on a limb and say that at some point, Broadcom MIGHT make a bid to take InterDigital in order to further strangthen and solidify the future of IoT and sensor technology.
JMO
mickey: Do you think that the 'limited time' might just be a TIME IN THE FUTURE and not a time in th past?
hrbart: I too have been buying QXOM, ever since they took a drop in share price. QCOM is one of my 'casino' stocks and it looks like it is going to pay off. BUT, this time, I am not going to wait for the last nickel in price appreciation.
I'm hoping for a second offer of $80 to $85 and if it comes close, I'll sell and go elsewhere.
Disappointing on today's price movement of IDC. Up over $1.35 and now bouncing down to $0.10 and all over the board.
Gamco, there are comments that Broadcom feels that if the deal were consumated, APPLE would likely feel good about the acquisition of QCOM by Broadcom. Further, Broadcom thinks the regulators would not file anti-trust claims and that Broadcom has taken these factors into consideration befomr making the bid.
AND, with Trump talking in Asia about trade agreements and perhaps Broadcom lrelocating into the U.S., it sounds promising.
The rumor is that Qualcomm will reject the initial bid of $70 per share. GOOD ! ! Talk of $80-$85 are more in line with street anticipation.
NOW, lets hope that IDCC is also on Broadcom's radar. IDCC could be another key factor to current licensing agreements as well as future developments in IoT. IMO, you can't have enough skin in the game in the IoT market and IDCC is hopefully up there with the best ! ! !
JMO
mickeybritt: Do you NOT THINK that all the legal experts on IDCC's staff and outside legal consultants have looked at this issue MANY TIMES OVER and have concluded (at least up to this point) that all is in order with the Qualcomm deal.
If not, don't you think that they would have done something about it many years ago and would have to discuss the matter at least in some form of disclosure as it would have some major financial implications?
JMO
mickeybritt: Maybe if Broadcom buys Qualcomm, there might be a clause in the license between IDC and QCOM that prohibits the transfer of the license to an acquirer. Hence, maybe IDC will get money from Broadcom ! ! !
Gamco, why not? Broadcom could come in and fix things with Apple, win them over, and resolve issues to both party's mutual interests and benefits.
mickeybritt: you said
can TeeCee post the text of the ruling?
If it is thatBIG wouldn't it warrant a filing ?

Several years ago, when I lived in Park Ridge, I suggested to both Commonwealth Edison AND Nicor Gas that both companies sent their meter readers out monthly. One would come on the 1st business day of the month and the other would come on the 5th business day.
I suggested that since both meters were very near to each other, on the outside of the house, they both companies work out an agreement that they share the responsibility of reading the meters. One month, Com Edison would read BOTH meters; the next month, Nicor would read BOTH meters.
At that time, it made sense to me and would save BOTH companies money. Obviously, it went on deaf ears.
Oh Well, I thought it would have been a good idea saving money.
JMO
Jim: About 2 years ago, Commonwealth Edison put Smart meters into our 50-unit condo building as well as several other buildings in our Condo Complex. They were on a program to replace the existing meters with smart meters in Chicago and suburbs, and eventually dthroughout the entire service area.
I would doubt that IDCC was involved 2 years ago with the 'smart meter' program in the Chicagoland (Niles IL) area, but who knows for sure.
Maybe IDCC has been active in Illinois without anyone knowing what they are involved in, as we know we get little information from the company.

mickeybritt: Try using this table:
1 Trillion Dollars---------- --Percentage---------- $1 Tillion times Percentage (Amount using words)
$1,000,000,000,000.00-- 1 PerCent 1.0000% $10,000,000,000.00 (10 Billion Dollars)
$1,000,000,000,000.00-- 1/10 of 1% 0.1000% $1,000,000,000.00 (1 Billion Dollars)
$1,000,000,000,000.00-- 1 100th of 1% 0.0100% $100,000,000.00 (100 Million Dollars)
$1,000,000,000,000.00-- 1 1000th of 1% 0.00100% $10,000,000.00 (10 Million Dollars)
mickeybritt, I think you may have hit the nail on the head !
Merritt, who is intimately involved with the IoT, saying the company will generate up to $100 million per year, is NOT a liar or stupid.
You, on the other hand, have a better vision of the potential and probable rinancial returns on the IoT.
Maybe both MERRITT and YOU are correct.
You may be correct in that the results will generate a GROSS amount of $1 billion (or more) per year
Your amount will be offset by taxes. bonuses, incentive compensation, raises, perks, commissions paid to Avanchi, etc. etc. etc.
The BOTTOM LINE for the company will be $100 million a year, which is what Merrit is saying.
mickeybritt: You should stop trying to guess the income, profits, and price of IDCC stock.
Your $200 price target is way overstated; $150 is too optomistic, and $100 is still out of reach.
Your billions of back royalties for Nokia/MSFT fizzled out; LG's millions and millions are far from reality, and the Sensors and Iot revenues are still out and yet to be reality.
For those who bought near the top, the tax selling season is soon upon us. Without any new license agreements, there is no way we will see $100 by year-end. hose with losses, it may be time to take them now and buy back before year-end.
You seem to 'pump' the stock every day, but your predictions fall short. WHAT WILL HAPPEN WILL HAPPEN, but for now we will chug along where we are at. Your buy it now earlier this AM would have cost us almost $2.00 per share right now.

Gamco & olddog: Wasn't there some 'waiting period' on a previous arbitration where there was a 60 day period during which the (losing) party could file an appeal?
I seem to think it was Huawei or LG, but I smay be wrong.
scruffy: You mean like how IDCC could win an arbitration and not receive any money !
Our BEST IN CLASS SALES TEAM finally delivers something !
This will assure them of a bonus at the end of the year.

Are buy-backs good?
Wal-Mart's buyback is huge, but here's why you should not be chasing buybacks
An interesting comment is snipped below:
"What does it mean? It means that these companies have dramatically boosted their earnings, not by selling more stuff, but by buying back stock. It means that all other things being equal, Wal-Mart, for example, has improved its earnings by 30 percent since 2002 just by buying back stock."
"This sounds like a great deal for stock holders. But does buying back stock really cause stock prices to outperform? If it really does help boost earnings, why don't we just buy the companies that have bought back the most stock?"
"It's a tough question to answer, but, as with everything, there's an ETF for that. And the evidence is it can be a big help, but without improvement in fundamentals, investors are not going to be fooled."
"The lesson: Stock buybacks can boost earnings, but without underlying fundamentals, it's not worth chasing them. Wal-Mart's buyback was certainly a big help, but without the added bonus of additional investments in the e-commerce business, it wouldn't have been a long-term boost.:

BUT, can the Best In Class sales team monitize it and sell it without any legal ramifications?
This is the challenge before the company!
jiff: It appears on the IDCC website in their 'BLOG'.
iT'S JUST A 'CRIME' THAT MANAGEMENT DOESN'T RELEASE all INFORMATION ON THE COMPANY in the form of a press release.
It would be nice to know when something happens, like the ASUS matter.
