In the past 60 days (since Dec 1) the stock price has held up above $100 and within $5 below the all-time highs. It seems like every effort to bring the price down has been met with resistance to allow it to fall and really has held up well.
Any new license agreement, or favorable resolution of litigation issues will push the stock above the target prices, some set at what I believe is $125 or better.

Biden’s EV Push Frozen by Arctic Weather
'We got a bunch of dead robots out here...'
January 17, 2024
The subfreezing weather impacting much of the U.S. has exposed a major headache for electric vehicle owners, proving to be yet another setback in President Joe Biden’s failed efforts to foist fossil-fuel alternatives onto disinterested consumers who see greater risk than reward in the pricey automobiles.
Chicago-area Tesla owners have reported difficulty while trying to charge their EVs. Drivers have found themselves stuck at charging stations with dead batteries. And those able to charge their batteries found it was taking much longer than it would take in milder temperatures. There were also instances in which charging stations were not functioning, according to Newsweek.
A station with 20 Tesla superchargers in Skokie, Illinois, was full almost all day Monday with drivers waiting for spots to open up. Drivers were worried about becoming stranded if their batteries ran out while they waited, according to WGN-TV9.
Uber driver Darryl Johnson waited for hours to get to a charger. But his frustration didn’t end as his battery started draining faster than normal.
You’re back at the charger twice a day,” Johnson said.
The challenges EV owners are facing may continue in the coming days, and the nightmare facing Chicago-area EV drivers could expand to other parts of the country.
A second arctic air mass is on the way, moving in more subfreezing temperatures across the U.S. Below-average temperatures are forecast, with some cities facing highs in the the single digits, teens or 20s, according to weather.com.
“Nothing. No juice. Still on zero percent,” said Tyler Beard, who was trying to recharge his Tesla at an Oak Brook, Illinois, Tesla supercharging station. “And this is like three hours being out here after being out here three hours yesterday.”

tnyellowtomcat, I was told once before that if you DO NOT WANT your shares to be lent out, instruct your broker
OR
put a sell order in, all or none, good until cancelled, at some high sales price that would put them out of reach or at some price that you would not mind selling out and taking the profit.
Your broker may limit the 'GOOD UNTIL CANCELLED' timeframe to somethine reasonable (say 6 months), at which time it would be dropped (but I am not sure of this or not).
Maybe someone can clarify this for all.

This corpse has been in the morgue too long. Time to bury it or cremate it before the end of the year1 The stench is getting worse ! ! !
I am surprised that IDCC didn't increase its authorization for share repurhase back at the end of October, 2023 when the price dropped down to the $75'-$80 level.
So close to year-end, the recent dividend increase, and now the buy back increase, something must be cooking!
Just think --- if IDCC decided to do a new Dutch Auction at or near the recent upgraded target of $125 from B of A,m this price could easily surpass that mark
Just 18 months ago, B of A initiated coverage with an overpriced rating. Since then, they have upgraded their rating twice to the current high of $125.
What a turn-around for the Analyst, unless he was canned and someone ellse took over for him.
Maybe they should just gof for another Dutch Auction at $125.00 or better and buy out any one who is considering selling at a new target price like me.

IDCC vs. QCOM: Which Stock Is the Better Value Option?
QCOM -0.29%
IDCC +2.50%
Zacks Equity Research

In this article:
Investors looking for stocks in the Wireless Equipment sector might want to consider either InterDigital (IDCC) or Qualcomm (QCOM). But which of these two stocks is more attractive to value investors? We'll need to take a closer look to find out.
We have found that the best way to discover great value opportunities is to pair a strong Zacks Rank with a great grade in the Value category of our Style Scores system. The proven Zacks Rank emphasizes companies with positive estimate revision trends, and our Style Scores highlight stocks with specific traits.
InterDigital has a Zacks Rank of #2 (Buy), while Qualcomm has a Zacks Rank of #3 (Hold) right now. The Zacks Rank favors stocks that have recently seen positive revisions to their earnings estimates, so investors should rest assured that IDCC has an improving earnings outlook. But this is just one piece of the puzzle for value investors.
Value investors also tend to look at a number of traditional, tried-and-true figures to help them find stocks that they believe are undervalued at their current share price levels.
The Value category of the Style Scores system identifies undervalued companies by looking at a number of key metrics. These include the long-favored P/E ratio, P/S ratio, earnings yield, cash flow per share, and a variety of other fundamentals that help us determine a company's fair value.
IDCC currently has a forward P/E ratio of 10.27, while QCOM has a forward P/E of 13.70. We also note that IDCC has a PEG ratio of 0.59. This metric is used similarly to the famous P/E ratio, but the PEG ratio also takes into account the stock's expected earnings growth rate. QCOM currently has a PEG ratio of 1.09.
Another notable valuation metric for IDCC is its P/B ratio of 3.97. The P/B ratio pits a stock's market value against its book value, which is defined as total assets minus total liabilities. For comparison, QCOM has a P/B of 6.41.
These metrics, and several others, help IDCC earn a Value grade of A, while QCOM has been given a Value grade of C.
IDCC stands above QCOM thanks to its solid earnings outlook, and based on these valuation figures, we also feel that IDCC is the superior value option right now.
ALAS ! ! ! Price now over $90. And I was worried in the beginning of the month when the price looked like it was retreating back to the $60's.
Monterey, my dividend finally posted at arund 3:30 PM.
I told my broker/manager that I was displeased with the swith from TD Ameritrade in that they did NOT disclose some of the things dthat would hange.
Like not being able to see the TD account once the swithover was done; confusion about statements, dividend payments, and just general eplanations of things and how ehey are done at Schwab.
zdog, vegas, Monterey. Thanks for your responses.
I think that Schwab does what it wants and post the dividends at the end of the day, even though the file may be received earlier during the day. This way, Schwab keeps the money an extra day or two.
Need help about IDCC dividend payment by my broker
Recently, (9-1-2023) my account was moved from Ameritrade to Charles Schwab through the merger of the two companies.
Ameeritrade ALWAYS had my dividends in my account at 7:30 AM. Only on a rare occasion, would a dividend of another company be credited dmid-day.
Since the merger, Schwab would NOT credit me until as late as 7:30 in the evening, and I could not move the funds until the next day.
Anyone experiencing the same issue with Schwab ? ? ?
Thanks for your help.

Is Trending Stock InterDigital, Inc. (IDCC) a Buy Now?
Zacks Equity Research
Thu, September 28, 2023 at 8:00 AM CDT
InterDigital (IDCC) has recently been on Zacks.com's list of the most searched stocks. Therefore, you might want to consider some of the key factors that could influence the stock's performance in the near future.
Over the past month, shares of this wireless research and development company have returned -7.2%, compared to the Zacks S&P 500 composite's -2.8% change. During this period, the Zacks Wireless Equipment industry, which InterDigital falls in, has lost 2.3%. The key question now is: What could be the stock's future direction?
While media releases or rumors about a substantial change in a company's business prospects usually make its stock 'trending' and lead to an immediate price change, there are always some fundamental facts that eventually dominate the buy-and-hold decision-making.
Revisions to Earnings Estimates
Rather than focusing on anything else, we at Zacks prioritize evaluating the change in a company's earnings projection. This is because we believe the fair value for its stock is determined by the present value of its future stream of earnings.
We essentially look at how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to reflect the impact of the latest business trends. And if earnings estimates go up for a company, the fair value for its stock goes up. A higher fair value than the current market price drives investors' interest in buying the stock, leading to its price moving higher. This is why empirical research shows a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.
For the current quarter, InterDigital is expected to post earnings of $1.19 per share, indicating a change of +60.8% from the year-ago quarter. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed +0.4% over the last 30 days.
For the current fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $7.91 points to a change of +157.7% from the prior year. Over the last 30 days, this estimate has changed -0.2%.
For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $6.29 indicates a change of -20.5% from what InterDigital is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed -0.3%.
Having a strong externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool, the Zacks Rank, offers a more conclusive picture of a stock's price direction in the near term, since it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. Due to the size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, InterDigital is rated Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
Projected Revenue Growth
Even though a company's earnings growth is arguably the best indicator of its financial health, nothing much happens if it cannot raise its revenues. It's almost impossible for a company to grow its earnings without growing its revenue for long periods. Therefore, knowing a company's potential revenue growth is crucial.
In the case of InterDigital, the consensus sales estimate of $98.94 million for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of -13.8%. The $503.81 million and $442.7 million estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +10.1% and -12.1%, respectively.
Last Reported Results and Surprise History
InterDigital reported revenues of $101.59 million in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of -18.5%. EPS of $1.30 for the same period compares with $0.69 a year ago.
Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $101.22 million, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +0.37%. The EPS surprise was +7.44%.
The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters. The company topped consensus revenue estimates each time over this period.
Valuation
No investment decision can be efficient without considering a stock's valuation. Whether a stock's current price rightly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects is an essential determinant of its future price performance.
Comparing the current value of a company's valuation multiples, such as its price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), to its own historical values helps ascertain whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, whereas comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of how reasonable its stock price is.
The Zacks Value Style Score (part of the Zacks Style Scores system), which pays close attention to both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics to grade stocks from A to F (an An is better than a B; a B is better than a C; and so on), is pretty helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.
InterDigital is graded B on this front, indicating that it is trading at a discount to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.
Bottom Line
The facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about InterDigital. However, its Zacks Rank #3 does suggest that it may perform in line with the broader market in the near term.
WOW ! A MIRICLE IN THE MAKING ! ABOUT TIME. Maybe the bleeding will stop
Looks like we will drop below $80. It;s a shame, especially since there is no bad news that brought us down from the $97 leval.
What the heck happened to cause IDCC to drop like a rock at opening?
Paullee, Am I correct that IDCC won in the UK court and also was granted interest on the lawsuit. I think I recall that IDCC was still appealing something in the UK court and Lenovo was hoping for a victory against the appeal in the UK court.
SO, what is the case in the U S Courts and why would they (Lenovo)look to stay and sever? Is this a separaat and different lawsuit involving different patents and uf the same patents, why sue in the us and UK?
not being a lawyer, this becomes very confusing.

Investors often turn to recommendations made by Wall Street analysts before making a Buy, Sell, or Hold decision about a stock. While media reports about rating changes by these brokerage-firm employed (or sell-side) analysts often affect a stock's price, do they really matter?
Let's take a look at what these Wall Street heavyweights have to say about InterDigital (IDCC) before we discuss the reliability of brokerage recommendations and how to use them to your advantage.
InterDigital currently has an average brokerage recommendation (ABR) of 1.00, on a scale of 1 to 5 (Strong Buy to Strong Sell), calculated based on the actual recommendations (Buy, Hold, Sell, etc.) made by three brokerage firms. An ABR of 1.00 indicates Strong Buy.
Of the three recommendations that derive the current ABR, three are Strong Buy, representing 100% of all recommendations.

While the ABR calls for buying InterDigital, it may not be wise to make an investment decision solely based on this information. Several studies have shown limited to no success of brokerage recommendations in guiding investors to pick stocks with the best price increase potential.
Are you wondering why? The vested interest of brokerage firms in a stock they cover often results in a strong positive bias of their analysts in rating it. Our research shows that for every "Strong Sell" recommendation, brokerage firms assign five "Strong Buy" recommendations.
In other words, their interests aren't always aligned with retail investors, rarely indicating where the price of a stock could actually be heading. Therefore, the best use of this information could be validating your own research or an indicator that has proven to be highly successful in predicting a stock's price movement.
With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool, the Zacks Rank, which classifies stocks into five groups, ranging from Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) to Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell), is a reliable indicator of a stock's near -term price performance. So, validating the Zacks Rank with ABR could go a long way in making a profitable investment decision.
ABR Should Not Be Confused With Zacks Rank
In spite of the fact that Zacks Rank and ABR both appear on a scale from 1 to 5, they are two completely different measures.
Broker recommendations are the sole basis for calculating the ABR, which is typically displayed in decimals (such as 1.28). The Zacks Rank, on the other hand, is a quantitative model designed to harness the power of earnings estimate revisions. It is displayed in whole numbers -- 1 to 5.
It has been and continues to be the case that analysts employed by brokerage firms are overly optimistic with their recommendations. Because of their employers' vested interests, these analysts issue more favorable ratings than their research would support, misguiding investors far more often than helping them.
On the other hand, earnings estimate revisions are at the core of the Zacks Rank. And empirical research shows a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.
Furthermore, the different grades of the Zacks Rank are applied proportionately across all stocks for which brokerage analysts provide earnings estimates for the current year. In other words, at all times, this tool maintains a balance among the five ranks it assigns.
There is also a key difference between the ABR and Zacks Rank when it comes to freshness. When you look at the ABR, it may not be up-to-date. Nonetheless, since brokerage analysts constantly revise their earnings estimates to reflect changing business trends, and their actions get reflected in the Zacks Rank quickly enough, it is always timely in predicting future stock prices.
Is IDCC a Good Investment?
Looking at the earnings estimate revisions for InterDigital, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year has increased 0.1% over the past month to $8.08.
Analysts' growing optimism over the company's earnings prospects, as indicated by strong agreement among them in revising EPS estimates higher, could be a legitimate reason for the stock to soar in the near term.
The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) for InterDigital. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) stocks here >>>>
Therefore, the Buy-equivalent ABR for InterDigital may serve as a useful guide for investors.
