Say Bruce, Pest Patrol Scan online, picks up on some of the kill switches that spywareblaster sets.
yes but you could carry it with you. They were talking about a USB Memory Stick, but other removable media would work to.
I just downloaded it, have not installed it yet. here is a good help site for Firefox. http://texturizer.net/firefox/
One of the things they talk about is running Firefox from a removable media.
The link should be working. I just tried it and it worked fine. There may be something on your computer blocking the site. What it is is a web site that can tell some of the types of ad-ware programs you have on your computer. You said that you had the mysearch tool bar. I did a search on it, found a lot of pages on how to uninstall it. The link should have told you that mysearch was installed. Here is what the web site says on mysearch.
Description
An IE toolbar providing search features, and a homepage-/search-hijacker, targeted at the sites run by MyWay. (The same people as iWon.com, writers of the Aornum parasite.)
Variants
MySearch/MySearch was the first variant, targeted at mysearch.com.
MySearch/MyWay uses different filenames and is targeted at myway.com itself.
MySearch/MyWeb is a new variant targeted at mywebsearch.com.
Also known as
MyWay Speed Bar.
Distribution
The MySearch and MyWay variants have been bundled with Grokster, Morpheus, WeatherBug, and software from mgshareware.com. MySearch has also been installed by the FavoriteMan parasite.
The MyWeb variant is bundled with software (Popswatter, SmileyCentral, My Mail Stamp) from “Fun Web Products” (also the same people as MyWay).
What it does
Advertising
No. (The search results may contain advertising, but the toolbar itself does not generate any.)
Privacy violation
No.
Security issues
Usually, no. There is an update feature, but it prompts you before running code.
In some versions of the MyWeb variant, yes: it is installed by an ActiveX downloader control which stays around leaving a backdoor for future installation. In newer versions, this control does not remain.
Stability problems
None known.
Removal
Open 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel. Select the 'My Search Bar' (MySearch variant), 'MyWay Speed Bar' (MyWay) or 'My Web Search Bar' (MyWeb) entry and click 'Remove'. For the MyWeb variant, be sure to also remove 'Fun Web Products Easy Installer'.
You can then reset your home page (Internet Options->General->Start Page) if it has been changed, and search settings (Internet Options->Programs->Reset web settings).

I am not saying that mysearch is bad, just that it was listed.
Hi Cintrix, check it out. http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/
Doug, I think he is talking about the same F11 button that you are talking about!
I believe you can go to the out box window and delete the messages there. You may be able to bring up the message and correct the address.
Hi Mr Ed, one of the CW programs may have been blocking Spybot. Also they may have been in the restore points. What ever the case may be glad that you got them. In spybot make sure you immunize, and run spyblaster.
Hi Bruce, a good program, one of the things I like about it is after you hit the CONSULT button. Some of the programs you have running will be unknown programs, but if you know what they are for, you can send a input saying what it is for. That means if everyone does that the database will get up to date very quickly. I sent in four inputs myself.
Hi BOREALIS, make sure you do the 816093: Security Update Microsoft Virtual Machine (Microsoft VM)update. This update fixes the hole that the (cool web search Trojan) is using to get on peoples computers!
If you are getting popups about viruses, yes you are being scammed. What you do have is adware on your computer. Try Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner v1.13.01 http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/index.html?source=appvisit It sounds like you may have the PurityScan.wtss by clickspring. On my wife's niece's computer it would put up popup ads whenever I put (spybot) in the goggle search engine! The ads were for a $30 program.
Hi Doug, a more brainy site. http://www.acs.psu.edu/thermoacoustics/refrigeration/
Hi Ken, Being that you had the cool web search bug, you probably have the old Microsoft java virtual machine software on your computer, check at windowsupdate. I know they have a fix for the windows XP java, not sure about the other OSes. If you don't find the fix, go to the sun web site and install the latest java program. Microsoft will no longer be supporting java, any more anyway.
About adware, install and run in this order, Spybot S&D, Ad-aware, cwshredder, and CWS.SmartKiller removal utility. By the time you get done you should be clean. Next you want to stay clean, in spybot S & D, Immunize, next run spywareblaster, he also has a program called spywareguard. That should do it for you.
Four hundred and three messages to read, to be caught up.
Hi Doug, Gotmilk, but, but but. Hold on there, looks like I got back just in time! First you will not be going into the bios to change which disk to boot from, unless you have two hard drives! I believe you only have one hard drive! What you will be doing is partitioning the hard drive. Remember that dos 6.2 and windows 3.1 can only use 2 gig's of hard drive, and they must go on the first partition. also it must be a fat formated drive. I would use your dos 6.22 or windows 3.1 disk (fdisk) to make the first partition of 2 gig, and make it active. Don't worry about the rest of the hard drive, windows XP will do it later.next format the partition with the format command and install dos and windows 3.1. You now have windows 3.1 running in two gigs. Now reinstall windows XP, it should ask you where you want to install it and show the disk partitions. this is when you create the other partition, for windows XP and install XP in the new partition. windows XP should ask you if you want to multiboot, just say yes. Once XP is installed, when you start the computer it will ask which OS you want to run windows XP or 3.1. Here is Microsoft's article on multibooting be sure to read the related links. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/multiboot.mspx
I know I am coming to the party late! A lot of the replacement hard drives come with software to copy the old hard drive to the new drive.
Hi Matt, just got back from vacation. Had a fun two days fixing my wife's niece's computer. Her sons had Kazaa,p2p software on the computer, no firewall, no av software. I installed Avast, and found two Trojan programs, then ran housecall and found three more Trojan programs. installed and ran ad-aware and spybot, found and cleaned several ad popup programs. had to run cwshreder to get the cool web search, and still had a popup program! Finally with the help of startup inspector and hijackthis, and cookiecop2, I found and got rid of purityscan by Clickspring LLC. http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/purityscan.wtss/index.phtml?source=alerts Wish I had known about Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner v1.13.01, bet it would have been a lot easier!
Hi, it means, there could be a problem in his computer. Or his email could be set to text only. That is how I have my outlook express set up.
Hi all, just letting you know that I am back.
Yep, and they have a update for direct-x 9.
Looks like you got struck by CWS (CoolWebSearch), here is what a search of your home page turned up, http://www.onlinepcfix.com/spyware/cws.htm?OVRAW=res%3A%2F%2Fmshp.dll%2Findex.html%2322776&OVKEY... Now then they are trying to sell you a program called SpyFerret. Before buying there program try the latest free programs. Try cwshredder at http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/ , that link will probably not work so try this one, http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/index.html it is the same web site, but the adware you got is blocking one or may be both ways to get to it. You may have to have someone email it to you. If cwshredder does not work, try this coolWWWSearch.SmartSearch (v1/v2) MiniRemoval tool. http://www.safer-networking.org/minifiles.html
If that fails try http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/downloads.html Hijackthis, and startuplist.
Here is a list of common startup programs, http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm Here is a list of common tasks http://www.answersthatwork.com/home_page.htm
All else fails Bruce should be able to help you, once you get clean be sure to install the new spybot, and immunize your self, the install spyblaster and spywareguard, and ad-aware. You get them up and running, and you should be ok. I am also using webwasher and (CookieCop 2) for ad and popup control. They are proxy programs, I have them setup so the web browser goes to webwasher and then webwasher goes to cookiecop 2. Let me know how this ends. I am going on vacation.
Hi all, I am going to take a vacation for a few weeks, going to go out to California to visit a few friends. Try not to get into any fist fights while I am gone.
Say Doug, if I remember right AOL9 has a popup blocker that you can enable, somewhere! I did it once on my friends computer so I know it can be done.
Hi Rich pearl, its ok to post web sites where you got the information from. I think you got your info from this web site. http://www.whirlywiryweb.com/q/ezula.asp
This site does a test for the eZula TopText, Note if you are using anti-spyware software to immunize your system, such as Spybot you will get a false positive hit. I suspect that spyblaster and spywareguard will also give you false positive hits.
Hi Ken, I was going to tell you of another forum that Gummy has, but found some sad news there. It seems that Gummy has decided to take up painting and what not. Gummy's web site is moving to here! http://www.gummy-stuff.org/ The forum is on this web site. http://nofeeboards.com/ Here is the forum http://nofeeboards.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=11&sid=d981f636f8da8baeac7a390c81a8a7f1 But I don't think Gummy will be on it much any more.
Hi Bruce, I don't think PCdoc went looking for a install program. I am 80% sure it looked in the registry or elsewhere. Being that all the files were active x files, there may be a active x file list that active x keeps in its directory. Not sure what is up with the htt file.
Hi Bruce, not trying to defend pcdoc, as I have never run it, nor am I trying to downplay Ace, I haven't tried it ether. But I am curious here. You said you ran Ace just before you ran PCDoc. I take that Ace did not pick up on any left over registry strings concerning Real player or Smart FTP when you ran it. But when you ran PCDoc it picked up 44 missing files in active x and one htt file as missing. Somewhere there is a list of files that should be on your computer( I would think this would be in the registry) but it could be elsewhere. When you deleted the two programs, I assume you uninstalled them and not just erased files. The uninstall program should have removed the files and directories and registry settings, of course they forget to do this which is why we have programs like Ace, to clean up after them. If Ace cleaned up the registry setting, where did pcdoc find settings leading to missing active x files? Should not Ace have cleaned that list up also? I think one or both programs are missing settings somewhere on your machine that need cleaning up.It may be worth while to send them a email asking what is up with that.
HI Doug, You can try the experts also. http://www.experts-exchange.com/
Just to second what TC said, don't mix AV programs. I believe I was running AntiVir and wanted to try Avast. I thought I had deactivated AntiVir, when I installed Avast. Turns out that Avast does a reboot right after the install, which went fine, but then both AV's resident programs kicked in. Which locked the computer up. I ended up having to reinstall windows. For me I like Avast better, but I think both programs are good.
Ken you need to post the link to the test results
Rumor has it that Trojan programs like to turn firewall programs off so hackers can get in easier.
In regards to the Triggers to allocate some cash to shares, do you , beyond using this trigger point, vary the amount of the cash that will be allocated to shares?
Currently no, I do have plans to add a few more triggers like minimum amount, and some type of average crossing system. You would only get a buy or sell if all three happened.
At this point the PremiVest Investor can obviously start using some margin if he chooses to do so. On the price rise side the allocation to shares drops, then goes to zero at Dead Zone Limit before the allocation amount reaches zero. As prices keep rising the trade advice changes to selling shares in parcels while all the time the Periodic Lay Away is added as cash as well.
Sounds like the programs are behaving very similar. In Hi/Low the percentage is applied to the whole portfolio (which includes any new cash). If one was very daring one can change the low percent to a negative number and sell more stock than you have(short selling). If you change high percent to more than 100% you would buy more shares than you have cash for(buying on margin). Please understand I have not tested it, just saw that you got negative trades.
Hi JB, I was meaning the free home version. http://www.avast.com/i_idt_226.html Avast has a resident virus checker, some of the others do not, it also checks emails and IM files, most of the other free virus checkers do not.. It checks for new data base download every time you go on line. It normally does a small update.
Also a free online virus checker is housecall, by trend. http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
A while back I was at my younger brothers house, and saw a strange file on his desktop, I opened it with notepad, and found a copy of his email addresses in it. I then asked if they had a anti virus program. Their computer had came with a six month free update mcaffe program. when the free update ran out he stopped the program from running, as it was always asking if he wanted to buy a one year subscription. I guess he figured if it hadn't found any viruses in six months it would not find any. I ran Avast and found about six different viruses on the machine, got rid of them, and then ran housecall, and it found about four other viruses.
Hi JB, I have been using Avast for a while, and have been happy with it. http://www.avast.com/
I am sorry Greg, you misread the instructions.
A computer that is running a version of Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
Administrative permissions on the computer. What you are trying to do is the reverse. You are trying to let a user run a Administrator account.
The way windows XP is setup is that Administrators are gods on the system, and users are peons with no rights. Here is what you can do. Start windows and login on the account that has Administrator rights, then in the control panel you change the other account to a Administrator account. Then log out of windows, and log back in on the other account. You can now set it up as you want. When you get finished log out, and log back in on the other Administrator account, you now go and change the other account back to a user account, and you are all set.
Hi Scrooge, first get the instruction manual of your CD-stereo player and/or a DVD player. You need to find out what formats they can play. Your new cd recorder and/or DVD recorder has to be able to record in their formats. You may find that you have to replace all three of them in order to do what you want to do. You may have to get new sound and graphic cards also.
I would say the number one thing you need is a fast reliable broadband internet connection. The speed of the computer that is necessary will depend on how many programs you are using. I would think that computer is fast enough. Anything above 200MHZ should do.
Hi Conrad, The H/L idea is based on the William %R formula. In this case instead of the H/L prices being the maximum and minimum prices over some past period. It is what you set it to be, This could be a very emotional decision And could easily reduce performance of the formula if they are set wrong! As I believe you know the William %R ranges from zero to negative 100. In my use of it, I do not use a negative sign.
If yes, then this idea some how strikes me that it is also similar to the idea of the Vortex Exponential Accelerator.
I would say no, the only Acceleration that is happening is due to the William %R and how it is applied to the portfolio. Portfolio in this case is only the stock shares and cash one is willing to commit to the stock. I feel that each stock should have its own spreadsheet. I may later try a acceleration method.
In case of a Lay Away Plan I suppose trading means allocating a portion of the monthly cash addition to share acquisition
Currently the monthly cash additions are controlled by the trigger percentages. If the stock does not move you would not be adding to the stock side, only the cash side. I may end up changing that.
Looks like we are one step closer to broadband over power lines.

Hi Capt, write down the missing dll file then go back to the program site. A lot of the sites say if you are missing a dll download and install, and they have a link to the install program. You are probably missing the VB6 runtime files.
