Hi JB, I was meaning the free home version. http://www.avast.com/i_idt_226.html Avast has a resident virus checker, some of the others do not, it also checks emails and IM files, most of the other free virus checkers do not.. It checks for new data base download every time you go on line. It normally does a small update.
Also a free online virus checker is housecall, by trend. http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
A while back I was at my younger brothers house, and saw a strange file on his desktop, I opened it with notepad, and found a copy of his email addresses in it. I then asked if they had a anti virus program. Their computer had came with a six month free update mcaffe program. when the free update ran out he stopped the program from running, as it was always asking if he wanted to buy a one year subscription. I guess he figured if it hadn't found any viruses in six months it would not find any. I ran Avast and found about six different viruses on the machine, got rid of them, and then ran housecall, and it found about four other viruses.

Come see me at Systematic Investing group #board-966 lets talk formula plans.
