Optical beam steering is a key technology for lidar systems, but conventional mechanical-based beam steering systems are large, expensive, vibration-sensitive, and with limited speed. WiMi Hologram Cloud, Inc. The optical holographic chip studied by WIMI refers to an integrated system composed of several optical devices with different diffraction efficiency. Its characteristic is that the optical function required by each unit can be reused, so its scale is smaller than that of traditional chips. An optical holographic chip with a plate grating can replace traditional OPA to create a single emitter. This setup eliminates the aliasing error because the adjacent channels in the plate grating can be very close to each other. In plate gratings, the coupling between adjacent channels is not harmful because it enables interference and beam formation in the near field (near the single emitter). The light then hits the far field at an ideal angle. Compared with traditional microcavities, it can effectively eliminate background noise and reduce other optical artifacts.
The application of optical holographic technology in photonic integrated chips has great advantages, which can not only meet the needs of multi-dimensional imaging and sensing but also simplify the chip design and realize large-scale array devices.
