No cash for shareholders there sure as hell shouldn't be bonuses for management then. If you fully expect to renew and to settle things then you pay the dividend. If your situation is such you don't feel like you will be able to repelenish what you pay out and cover expenses then you don't pay a dividend. In my opinion to pay or not to pay may speak volumes on what management feels about the direction of the company.
to me it sounds like they are battening down the hatches for the fight....
agree 100%. In addition to IDCC's efforts to cut costs, the Ericsson suit against Samsung should be a clear sounding bell to anyone that a Samsung renewal is not going to be easy for IDCC, unless IDCC can somehow strike a deal with Samsung that involves the sale of patents.
.the company previously said they had a GOAL of $800M revenue....when was the last time you heard that?
before the restructuring and employee downsizing. Times have changed IMO, leaving the prospect of $800m recurring revenue more uncertain.
or they are preparing to sell off portions of the company
Agree. I believe that IDCC sees this as the preferred path for the benefit of shareholders. I believe as far as licensing goes, the industry is going to litigate with IDCC to the very end.
The continued industry pressure on the value of SEP licensing has been a big factor stalling IDCC's licensing efforts IMO.
Data, I had thought about Samsung and Rimm and figured by now our world class licensing team probably gave our CEO and board member Merritt a progress report and some thought if these renewals will happen before year end?
We also are expecting the results of an Arbitration this quarter that was heard in June or July so there are several factors that might influence the BOD on a special dividend.
