FYI, An employer can't question the validity of ID's....if background checks are part of employment requirement then false ID's may disqualify applicant. There is something very fishy about your story....you know, the smell test. Before an employee can legally be hired you need their satisfaction of ID requirements ( there are many) photocopied and on file...then the employer is 'off the hook'. Question the validity of their ID and the EEOC or some other fine govt. bureau will come down for profiling etc. etc. it's actually a giant bunch of B.S. LOL I don't know how I got here but I have ID and now I'll leave you to your 'I can't believe it'. :>)

What a story. Bottom line - your company cheated two Mexicans or whoever, out of two weeks pay. They got two weeks work for free.

Legally, they could be sued big time and I hope they are. Employers are supposed to check BEFORE a person works. So when payday comes there is no rip off such as you describe.

How awful! Talk about thievery! Used to be called slavery. Must go by another name today! Probably a more sophisticated one to reflect the times.
