C M, it is sad when there are those that get great satisfaction when Wave has a bad day and only show up to post on those days.

CM: Re YES Vision. I have had it installed for about a week now. Getting lots of new content on a regular basis and the quality is outstanding. Everyone that meets the system requirements and has broadband should try this out if they haven't already. It doesn't take long to load. Even if you are not a Yankee fan they have some interesting stories running. There is also a YES Vision chatboard where people can talk about the new services and content YES Vision offers. I would recommend folks stop by there too and offer their two cents, not about Wave specifically but about the quality of YES Vision.

cm / survey

I like the survey results.

Roughly 40% of respondents want to own a TPM equiped PC. That maps to about 60,000,000 PC's per year. Also, about 60% or respondents don't have a clue what TC is about. These are probably the people who don't want a TPM equiped PC because thay are ignorant of the benefits that TPM security provides. A little education should push some of this group into the TC camp.

Keep in mind that about 100% of the PC industry wants TC as evidenced by the membership of the TCG. So, between the 40% of PC consumers and 100% of PC providers, there is agreement concerning TPM deployment.

Given this, I don't understand the statement "The more you know about it, the less you like it" that preceeds the results. This should read "Those who know something, like it"

c m--2004 Entertainment PCs = Premium Content = WAVE.

The marketing survey is an absurdity as it neglects what you refer to as the "PULL" variables. And the ultimate "PULL" variable is Premium content.

Rephrase the PC survey from: "Which of the features proposed would you find useful?" TO "Which of the features proposed would you find useful IF IT ENABLED YOU TO ACCESS PREMIER, HIGH DEMAND ENTERTAINMENT CONTENT NEVER BEFORE RELEASED ON THE INTERNET? "

Do you think if rephrased, would it change the findings significantly in favor of Trusted Computing? Howard Golden would probably argue that such a rephrase would shift the balance even more negatively toward Trusted Computing. And he would argue the point with a straight face. Which is why his contribution to this board should be viewed more in terms of entertainment of an Absent-Minded Professor.

The key question is whether the Entertainment PCs coming out in volume by the major OEMs towards the end of this year can offer premium wireless home content WITHOUT TPMs bundled with Embassy software which would provide Attestation and Interoperability?

Is MS JANUS possible without TPMs bundled with Embassy?

If folks have any doubts about how WAVE intends to play this, one should review Unclevername's earlier post.
