Mobile Internet Access
T1P1 completed the Stage 1 Air Interface Requirements for Wireless Wideband Internet Access (WWINA) during the period under review. In addition to this the Stage 3 standards for I-CDMA technology that supports WWINA was also completed

Wireless Standards

Tantivy offers technology solutions that enable Wireless Carriers to provide access anywhere, anytime at a fraction of the cost of comparable wireline solutions. These solutions are poised to address the portable and fixed application segments offering a significantly faster return on investment than comparable technologies.

Tantivy technology provides carriers with a new revenue stream, quick ROI, and scalable architecture to meet future demand. For subscribers, this ultimately means a rich wireless Internet experience at an affordable price.

Tantivy has conducted field trials with several well-known carriers, both domestic and international. Trial results have demonstrated the power and promise of Tantivy's technology.

Tantivy's I-CDMA is being standardized in T1P1, a mobile wireless ANSI standards body, a part of parent organization ATIS. T1P1.4 is a formal working group with the charter of standardizing Wireless Wideband InterNet Access, Wireless Wideband Internet Access (WWINA) http://www.t1.org/t1p1/_p14home.htm. WWINA air interface service requirements were approved by T1 in March of 2002 which specify the unique capabilities of I-CDMA. The air interface specification is Committee T1 approved to be an ANSI Standard for WWINA. With the support of the T1P1 standards participants, Tantivy has achieved a major milestone in industry acceptance of our wireless data value proposition. The standard will make available to all carriers (GSM, TDMA, and CDMA) and major wireless manufacturers, I-CDMA based solutions.

14. Intellectual Property If an IEEE standards-developing committee chooses to include patented technology in its standard, early disclosure of these patents is valuable. Early disclosure notifies the standards developers and the IEEE of the patent in the most timely manner and gives participants the greatest opportunity to evaluate the benefits the patented technology may offer a draft standard. However, the standards developers should not take any action that could be interpreted as requiring any participant in the development process to undertake a patent search of its own portfolio or of any other. The objective is to obtain early disclosure concerning the existence of patents, where known. If the proposed standard uses copyrighted material, copyright releases must be obtained by the working group and included in the final package submitted to the IEEE-SA Standards Board.Additionally, remember that during development of your approved project, the proper IEEE copyright notices must be maintained on all drafts. If the proposed standard uses any trademarked terms, permission for use must be obtained from the owner. Refer to Section 6 of the IEEE-SA Standards Board Operations Manual for IEEE patent, copyright, and trademark policies. If the proposed standard will require the unique identification of objects or numbers by the IEEE for use in industry, this should be indicated. An example of this type of registration is the unique manufacturer ID, known as Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI).15. Are there other Standards or Projects with a Similar Scope?Identify any standard(s) or project(s) of similar scope(s), both within or outside of the IEEE, and explain the need for an additional standard in this area.16. International Sponsor OrganizationIf the project is intended to be submitted to the appropriate international technical committee as the basis of or for inclusion in an international standard, or if this standard is intended to be adopted asthe international standard, this should be noted here. It is important for all working group membersto be aware of international activity within their area of technical expertise.17.

xdx.. a financial planner friend of mine best described IDCC by saying "I don't understand it". Admittedly, everything I've acquired has come from reading news releases and Board member discussions.

The big picture is the sum of many parts- comprising the world of wireless. So often we get caught in the details- such as the role of Lucent - that the big picture gets muddled in the shuffle. Anyone who states "they don't understand it" - certaintly aren't alone.

As the investment community gains a better grasp of the central role Interdigital is playing in worldwide communications, the stock price will reflect accordingly. Q is an example of what happens when the investment community catches on- and we've got momentum.

xdx,

re:He then surrounded Ericy, convinced them we had the goods and cut a deal

but the question remains, why hasn't "the company with integrity, idcc's new found friend, a "known" company licensed all flavors of 3G yet. why can't HG convince ericy that idcc has the "3G goods". ericy is selling more 3G infrastructure than just about anyone else.

inquiring minds what to know why it hasn't happened. it has been a year since idcc and ericy became "buds".

lots of explainations and excuses have been posted here, they don't pay the bills......

xdx. another thought.

Samsung isn't licensed for CDMA (IS-95), suggesting only TDMA (GSM) revs are involved in the concurrent NOK arb (NOK is licensed). CDMA mobile phone production from Korea's Samsung (and LG Electronics and others) are significant (over and above amts disclosed by Interdigital after S/E Ericy). Both will at some point need a 3G license for standards each produces to, but appears they will FIRST have to ante up for CDMA 2-G - but the end result should be all-inclusive, i.e. not piecemeal as LearningVest indicated.

Appears Ericy S/E settlement was the benchmark for other GSM OEM's, I beleve the ongoing arb with NOK with regard to 2G CDMA (Possibly not triggered by S/E ERicy - since it was GSM based) is holding up the "non-piecemeal" licensing endeavors sector wide. Comments?
