At full retail cost minus the coupon , I didn’t renew my prescription for Vascepa

I switched to a DS alternative ... not as good but only $66 a month

Now Vascepa only costs me $24 a month as my Kaiser insurance will now cover .... so of course I switched back to Vascepa

Price influences consumer behavior ... something you appear to ignore .

Agree this is a factor. But some insurers do cover some off label. (And I’d put HMOs as the insurers least likely to do so). But regardless, chronic drug taking patients, taking drug was a disease with no symptoms, have a long history of poor compliance. Particularly as it becomes more general retail.

Kiwi, if I could pick your brain I would appreciate it. I was having a discussion with Louie as we both have Fed BCBS. Right now V is tier 3 and Louie explained the reason we now pay about 40 bucks a month is because our script is currently covered at 50% so half of 300 is 150 minus the coupon of 110 yields 40.

We were discussing if BCBS made it tier 2 then our copay would be 30%. I then predicated that if we lost the coupon then the 30% tier 2 would cost us 90 bucks a month. Louie's opinion was that once it is tier 2 then BCBS would negotiate a better price for us yielding a lower cost.

When you say that it costs you 24 bucks a month with Kaiser, is that because they made it a tier 2 drug and what kind of copay do you have for tier 2 and do you know if they negotiated a better price? In other words are you able to figure out why $24?/ TIA
