r-

I was having a discussion with Louie as we both have Fed BCBS. Right now V is tier 3 and Louie explained the reason we now pay about 40 bucks a month is because our script is currently covered at 50% so half of 300 is 150 minus the coupon of 110 yields 40.

We were discussing if BCBS made it tier 2 then our copay would be 30%. I then predicated that if we lost the coupon then the 30% tier 2 would cost us 90 bucks a month. Louie's opinion was that once it is tier 2 then BCBS would negotiate a better price for us yielding a lower cost.

It is apple to orange: the coupon is (i) applicable for T2 and T3 or (ii) to none of them).

(i) T3: $40; T2: $3 (300 x 0.3 = 90 - 87)
(ii) T3: $150; T2: $90

Best,
G

Rose. The main reason I think Kaiser made my copay only $24 a mth is that they consider me high risk and decided they ( Kaiser ) would save $ keeping me out of the ER .
So they made Vascepa very inexpensive ... probably for all their high risk patients

Kaiser would read the ICER report and be proactive IMHO

Rose mount and LB, call the Care Connect Pharmacy in Alexandria, they seem to charge closer to wholesale, automatically apply coupons and offer free mail delivery in DC, MD and VA. I had BCBS and was paying $90 until I switched to Aetnafeds 2 years ago and pay $9 for 90 days. Only problem I have now is all of a sudden they want a pre auth from my doctor for V to cover 2020. I am finding the problem is the price fixing that goes on with the pharmacy provider under these health plans .
