beigledog, in spending a bit more time perusing the 'tri-state generation & transmission association' website found they publish a quarterly magazine, titled "Network Magazine"
http://www.tristategt.org/NewsCenter/Magazine/NetworkSUM05.pdf
for me, not knowing much about "non-investor owned utilities", the box on page 6, marked "What makes Nebraska different? Cooperatives versus PPD's" proved interesting. appears i've got some catching up to do.... (if i recall, gunluvver resides in nebraska. perhaps he can mention some pro's and con's to the concept.)
and, for blokes like golrusher, the article on pages 12, 13 & 14 looked refreshing.
best,

beigledog, more reading for you.
take a peek at this from tri-states website....
http://www.tristategt.org/NewsCenter/NewsItems/generation-project.cfm
can only surmise how old the overall transmission infrastructure is, but this last line of the webpage -referenced above- definitely piqued my interest.
"[Tri-State] also owns (either wholly or jointly) and has maintenance responsibility for more than 5,000 miles of high-voltage transmission line."

beigledog, i concur with your statement.
however, the reference you provided is a list of those individuals holding a capacity of "associate member".
the final decision making is apparently held by the list of individuals (link below) who probably have not listened intently to mr. arrington or mr. bishop's message. without being a fly on the wall or getting a copy of meeting transcript...can only speculate the answer to 'why'.

beigledog, much obliged for your posting various noteworthy stories, etc., here on i-hub. very informative.
if i may, i'd like to add to your collection.
last evening, bbc world news spent 60 seconds on the referenced world wildlife fund story. eventually found it on their website. thought you may find it of interest, too.

monkeybiz: if i may --and since you are very knowledgable on the subject matter of epoxy and resin-- wish to take beigledog's query one step further with you.
referenced within the url, below, are the 10 types of accc that ctc produces.
http://www.compositetechcorp.com/compbroch.pdf
be much obliged if you would so kindly list the diameter's of each cables "core" on the list and its approximate weight for us. (if i'm imposing and you wish to decline a response i'll understand.)
for example, your post references "the 10mm diameter weighs 38.86 grams per foot". which type of cable, i.e., hawk, drake, bluebird, etc., are you referencing? and, what are the diameters and gram weights per foot of the other nine cable cores?

GOLD--ep & gigem, here is another link. it, however, lists only gold stocks.
http://www.gold-stocks.com/
i especially like this site for three reasons:
a./ ease of sight (although quotations are delayed)
b./ clicking onto a company symbol generates an expanded quotation window with useful information
c./ when placing mouse over a company name, many will have an associated hyperlink. if available, clicking onto the name will engage a new and separate browser window to the company website's homepage.

bogeyschen, much obliged for your very informative posts. i especially concur with your comments about mr. brittsan. for me, the 11 january 2005 press release formally announcing his arrival said it all.
http://www.compositetechcorp.com/Press%20Releases%20-%20PDF/acoo.pdf
the addition of mr. brittsan to the company definitely brings an individual of integrity and substance to the team--someone who clearly can ctc to the next level. for this reason, shareholders have to be a tad patient as mr. brittsan gets his bearings on the situation. yes, he's been on board for approximately 80 days. by the third week in april shareholders can give him a 100 day evaluation. imo, they won't be disappointed.
mr. wilcoxon and mr. arrington have truly done a great job developing the company through its r&d years. mr. brittsan will clearly navigate them through the commercial ones.
imo, mr. wilcoxon summed it up best when stating, "the company is emerging from its development stage and is poised to enter the market with important commercial sales of its accc product family. mr. brittsan brings to ctc the skills and discipline needed to manage this new stage of growth and we believe will contribute significant strengths to our management team at a critical time."
any shareholder who was at BOTH the october 2004 and march 2005 meetings (and there's probably not many) will most likely state that what they became privy to at the march meeting is not the same company.
i, too, would have to assert that by 30 september 2005 (fiscal year end) all shareholders will not be able to recognize this company after allowing mr. brittsan to perform his magic between this date and then.
after two years--sitting pat, staying focused on the prize, willing to hold and enjoy the ride.

farmer,
respect your opinion. whether you believe management is being illusory in this case, or not.
in response to your query. although i have every confidence in the present management team -- no, as of this writing, i do not have any evidence to provide you ctc will deliver on the dates specified.
yes, the clock is ticking...is it time to continue to hold 'em or fold 'em?...i'll let you be your own judge.
me, i'm standing pat and holding.

argyll, unfortunately the webmaster is either not keeping up with progress and/or not being fed updates for the website. this is fairly common for start up companies who dedicate their time and resources to the matter at hand and not expend critical time on the website.
after the recent share holder meeting several posters reported they were informed by mr. wilcoxon that the companies approach was:
1) 2004 CTC Cable
2) Q3 05 Towers and Poles
3) Q4 05 Wind Systems
4) 06 Transmissions
based on this timeline, ctc wind systems will be addressed in q3 '05 (whether fiscal q3 -march to june- or calendar -july to septmeber- i am unsure).
yes, i, too, would like to see the proliferation of ctc's wind systems technology...but, am well entrenched in the "let's be patient" mode and, for now, allowing the officers of the company provide the direction of the ship.

i can envision the set up now...four 24" flat screen monitors all linked with a 4-way video card cradled on a beautiful oak desk. (very impressive.)
throw in surround sound speakers...a high back leather chair...apartment size refrigerator in the corner...remote/wireless mouse, and its like looking out the front windshield of your former truck -- with lots to look at.

was curious to see what ole' tom kuhn had to say today at energy & commerce committee. soooo, did some digging.
here's what i unearthed:
Hearing
The Energy Policy Act of 2005: Ensuring Jobs for Our Future with Secure and Reliable Energy
Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality
February 10, 2005
2322 Rayburn House Office Building
09:30 AM
kuhn's committee webcast can be heard at this link. he appeared in panel 3.

(with real player - click onto kuhn's hyperlinked name and listen)
if you're not inclined to listen, or perhaps wish to read his testimony instead, see summary version at:
http://www.eei.org/about_EEI/advocacy_activities/Congress/EEI_testimony_EAQ_2-10-05.pdf
on page 9 of above referenced document, the december 2001 ferc "electric transmission constraint study" is sited by kuhn. to review that, see: http://www.ferc.gov/cust-protect/moi/constraintstudy.pdf
all in all, today was idle day putzing around doing dd on a few stocks.

think you're missing bo's point, or you're not taking the china equation seriously.
i recall you stated (on rb site) sometime ago you were doing a report for your company on gc (possibly to get a promotion).
http://ragingbull.lycos.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=CPTC&read=17001
http://ragingbull.lycos.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=CPTC&read=17458
how is the report coming? is it completed? were you successful in getting the promotion?
with all due respect, beigle, please don't let your research of gc cloud your view of ctc. please allow yourself to take into consideration the bigger picture, too.
china knows what they're doing. ctc wants to be a partner in their development. for a country who until 1985 did not have patent laws in place (usa have had them in place for well over a century) are progressing quite well.
add in the many reforms the country has enabled to bear the past 25 years and they are doing very well politically and economically: http://www.brookings.edu/dybdocroot/views/articles/fellows/chung20030301.pdf
but, let us not forget TWO recent dates, however, that truly propelled the country forward: 1.) 13 july 2001 - the date the ioc presented beijing the world stage of hosting the 2008 summer olympic games, and, 2.) november 2001 - the date china was accepted into the wto.
very pivotal...
here are a couple links for everyone to add to their DD arsenal on china:
http://english.people.com.cn/200411/05/eng20041105_162864.html
(pay close attention to the part in the article which reads, "...On the other hand, the supply of electricity and coal will increase because of the fast fixed asset investment in those sectors since 2004. New installed capacity of power generators reached 24.7 million kilowatt during the first nine months. The new capacity is expected to increase 40 million kilowatt this year. The country is likely to generate 2.1 trillion kilowatt hours of electricity this year, an increase of 13.5 per cent from last year. The power shortage in the fourth quarter will ease. But power supply in provinces such as Jiangsu and Zhejiang will continue to be tight this winter.") fast fixed asset investment = BLING BLING.

yes, ctc is looking to play on the world stage, too. they're just due will come very, very soon. for now they're prodding, ever so slowly...slower than some of us would prefer...but dotting the i's and crossing the t's in all the right places.
imo, gc is just a launching pad for ctc....
