"SS and medicare withholding is money you will see back (hopefully or if we can cut the discretionary defense budget in half) when you retire"
This is the good part.
You and I both know that I will never see any of the SS money I have put in.
With the exception of the interest on the federal debt the mandatory budget is feeding the bottomless stomach of broken, bankrupt social entitlement programs.
You want to add government controlled (make no mistake - that is where this is headed if they get their way) healthcare to that tab. The defense budget will be pennies on the dollar.
And again, national defense is in the constitution. Where is nanny-state health care and retirement programs? (which are now costing FAR more than defense).
I dont want to pay into social security and I don't want to get a SS check. Give me my money now- I assure you I can invest it FAR better than the damn govt.
The hubris of liberalism: They know better than we do how to spend OUR money..... an so it goes.....
Fine, whats another 100 billion?
Who said anything about 10 years?
The DEFICIT from THIS YEAR ALONE is 1.42 Trillion.
The DEBT is more than $11 Trillion (and this doesn't cover the looming SS crisis).
Get a freakin clue.
And once SS goes insolvent $3.5 Trillion over ten years wont even be a drop in the bucket.
"The defense budget dwarfs everything else in our discretionary budget by a factor of 10x"
Again, National Defense is a proper function of the federal govt.
And btw, we don't spend more than the rest of the world combined. Given our current trajectory that day will come, but it is not here yet.
You don't seem to ever comment on our Mandatory budget which is greater than the Discretionary budget by a fair margin....wonder why? Could it be because it consists of nothing but broken social entitlement programs?
"And halfing the defense budget will solve every problem America has with its deficit."
I guess math is not your strong suit huh?
The chart you posted yourself says we spend $515 Billion on Defense. Halving it would save roughly $260 Billion.
Our deficit this year is $1.42 TRILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!
If we halved our defense budget we'd still be in the hole for more than $1 Trillion dollars....
Read this (from the AP no less):
"WASHINGTON — What is $1.42 trillion? It's more than the total national debt for the first 200 years of the Republic, more than the entire economy of India, almost as much as Canada's, and more than $4,700 for every man, woman and child in the United States.
It's the federal budget deficit for 2009, more than three times the most red ink ever amassed in a single year."
Is the porkulus bill in that graph?
National defense is a proper function of the Federal Gov't.
Interesting that the Mandatory budget (entitlement programs) cost more than everything else. Just wait till health care is thrown in THAT mix.
Typical post from a typical liberal.
Would you like me to list dozens and dozens of government spending projects that had cost overruns of FAR more than 100%
Better yet, can post a any real government spending projects that came in on budget?
Congress' spending record is there for you to see. I understand that you don't want to face reality (since support the 1,990 page health care disaster bill). I'm sure you believe the nutcases like Pelosi who say it will only cost 1 TRILLION dollars.
But remember, I've posted a few days ago how far off they were with Medicaid (around 800% ovverrun).
We will barely be able to afford a 1 TRILLION bill. What happens when it (and it will) goes over by 100%.... or 200%....or 500%....
Again...overruns like that are standard for any congressional project. WTF do we do when that happens?
Please see the 2nd half of post #174378.
They have medicaid don't they?
Oh thats right, you have soooo much compassion that you are willing to really bite the bullet and spend OTHER PEOPLES money to help them out. Where would we be without such generous people like you?
Do the math .
The congressional research service estimates it costs $390,000/year to keep a US soldier in Iraq.
Its tough to find an average cost for contractors since there are so many varied kinds.
But here are a couple of examples:
"DynCorp won a $50 million one-year contract to send 1,000 ex-cops and security guards to Iraq to help train a new police force." Thats $50,000 a year. I'm not sure.... is that less than $390,000?
"Contractors in Iraq now employ at least 180,000 people in the country, forming what amounts to a second, private, army, larger than the United States military force, and one whose roles and missions and even casualties among its work force have largely been hidden from public view. The widespread use of these employees as bodyguards, translators, drivers, construction workers and cooks and bottle washers has allowed the administration to hold down the number of military personnel sent to Iraq, helping to avoid a draft
"The report, by the Congressional Budget Office, according to people with knowledge of its contents, will say that one out of every five dollars spent on the war in Iraq has gone to contractors for the United States military and other government agencies, in a war zone where employees of private contractors now outnumber American troops."
Thats from the LIBERAL New York times.
So lets see.....there are MORE contractors in IRAQ than the US army but the are 20% of the cost.... sheesh....
And these subsidies you claim will be given to small business will be paid for by whom?
I love the liberal math with this:
Tens of millions of uninsured will now be covered. Small business will get subsidies. Taxes on middle class will not go up.....yep, looks like we will be "saving" money on this one. lol
Bullshit huh?
Look what it costs per month to keep a US soldier in Iraq.
Look at what it costs per month to keep a contractor in Iraq.
We will never agree I'm sure.
Again though, the real issue.
You are claiming that the US government is in the business of saving money. That is such a laughable claim that debating the issue with you any more would be a waste of time.
The cost overruns that occur with EVERY government spending program is history for any interested party to research.
If any private company had the fiscal track record of congress they would be out of business in a week.
My biggest concern though is not cost but the gross overreach of Federal Power that it will be.
If insurance companies being outside the scope of Sherman, than why do you not propose to amend it so it covers them as well?
Instead you support Government CONTROL.
Medicare is going broke because it is a government entitlement program.
Speaking of medicare, its funny that Obumbler says that he can raid billions from it and not hurt it because he will only cut the "waste fraud and abuse". LOL.
What is positive about the foundations of our country being eroded?
If this is the best then the award is a total sham! Lol!
1) Healthcare w/ Public Option will pass in both the House and Senate. =MASSIVE INCREASE IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POWER. = LESS LIBERTY
2) Climate Change Bill already passed in House gaining steam in Senate (with some Repuke support even) = MASSIVE INCREASE IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POWER. = LESS LIBERTY
3)
Salaries at TARP recipients being slashed/Economic Reform legislation in the works. = MASSIVE INCREASE IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POWER and LESS LIBERTY
9) No European Missile Defense Shield/Unanimous UN Resolution regarding Nuclear Proliferation/Steps toward Disarmament?!?!
TOTAL CAPITULATION TO THE SOVEI.... I MEAN RUSSIANS....
Although, Neville Chamberlain would have approved. He had the same approach in achieving "peace" with Hitler! lol.
Yeah, I guess you were right. Peace comes with Total Government control and power, not in individual liberty. Our founding fathers must have been so stupid. Obama is so smart....
The award is joke.
Remember who else has been "awarded" this prize:
Al Gore
Yasser Arrifat.
Are you honestly suggesting that the government does things cheaper than the private sector? I'm shocked that anyone can believe such a concept but since you posted it for all to see....
Your first point: You are saying that it costs more to station a soldier overseas than at home? That is self-evident. It doesn't matter who is providing the services, it costs WAY more when you have to send it halfway around the world.
Second: $400 gallon gas. Again, it costs a crap load to send it around the world it doesn't matter who is shipping it.
Third: You don't know anything about the costs to keep a US soldier in the field if you think contractors cost more.
In EVERY case contractors cost 30-90% less than a US soldier to field.
The only real comparison of private VS federal in your three points is the third, and the facts contradict your own contention! LOL! Private soldiers cost WAY less than Federal! lol.
(I don't think we should privatize the army btw, as an army IS one of the ares our government SHOULD take care of).
Yes I am new.
But I called the TA days ago and verified the 1000-1 R/S which you so viciously denied.
I made 950% on this play.
Who's the newb now?
The record of posts here the last week is there for all to see.
You still think this one will turn out - fine, that is your right. And since you still defend this POS publicly the next few days will be fun.
LOL!!!!!
We know.
We also know of the massive discrepancy that exists between your words and reality.
Your forecasting has not been very good with this stock so far.
But, sure, lets wait a few more days and see if peoples share were wiped out or not.
If this goes up please feel free to say "I told you so".
If this tanks please feel free to say "I made terrible predictions and am sorry for pumping this dog turd".
only got enough powder for 10,000 more but will hit the ask at open. Go QASP
Gonna hit the ask at the opening bell for some more.
The value for long term shareholders, apparently, is that the jerk, a-hole, flipping pennytraders like all of us won't want to be in it anymore. Remeber, he is going for "sophisticated" investors....I-hub traders need not apply.....
What drives me nuts is you demanding others pay for your "caring". I'd tell you what I do for the poor but you obviously find it easier to label me a liar than to actually think about what I'm saying.
The difference between me and you is that I'm not demanding that you pay for my good intentions.
Bottom line : You think that the Federal Goverment will not use every excuse to enhance power unto itself. I do not.
Frankly I could care less if you compliment or insult me or if you believe me or don't believe me.
And the "its for the poor", self-congratulatory, always generous with OTHER PEOPLES MONEY crowd has always felt as you do.
You want the poor to have top-flight insurance? Pay for it yourself. Or rather, start a foundation and try to get people to voluntarily donate to make it happen. But please don't use the government to force your neighbors to pay for your own good intentions.
I like how G. Gordon Liddy put it: "The Liberal feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay with your money .
I have already posted that I think HMOs are bullshit.
I've watched Glen beck perhaps 5 times. Your attempt to be cute FAILS.
But seriously, you believe it is the governments place to offer competition? What do they do well?
"Medicare does help the poor, to an extent. Fed law dictates that every ER who receives any fed money - which is just about every ER in the US - must treat everyone who presents with an emergency, but an ER does not follow-up with the uninsured and does not recommend further treatment - they ONLY treat the emergency. Given most poor people only see a doc/ER when they have a real emergency, many times it's too late to help cure/treat a serious problem.
And how about those who have lost their jobs? - You didn't address them. Should we also tell them, "screw you"? "
To be honest (and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this) the unemployed and poor should not get free, full-spectrum health care just as the soup kitchen does not serve filet mignon.
3A also includes people that are not daytraders or flippers but longs who believe this has just turned out to be an awful investment....
The answer to 3B is: Yes to all.
"As for prohibiting insur corps from crossing state lines, that's a states issue, not a fed gov't issue - you should talk to your state's insurance commissioner if it bothers you so much. And what diff would it make if they could cross state lines? You'd still be dealing with the ONLY industry who offers health insur."
I'm confused....what the heck are you saying here? Are you saying that the government needs to offer competition because the only people offering health insurance are the people who are offering health insurance? Thats a tautology. If that is what you are saying than perhaps the government should get involved in telecommunications because, after all, the telecommunications industry is the only industry that offers telecommunications....
Or, maybe the government should get involved in the car industry because....oh wait....they are.
Or maybe, the government should get involved in banking because....oh wait.....
Lol, he lives in a alternate reality.
He said yesterday that a Federal Army is what the founders had in mind when they wrote the 2nd amendment!
So, along that line of reasoning, MSNBC is king of cable news....lol
Please, expand upon point #5.
How much are the contracts worth ( $s please)?
What does the revenue stream look like ( $s please)?
And number 3, how many of these "enduring Hands" are left by choice? How many of them are holding (the BAG) because they've already lost so much already what does it matter about a couple more ticks so may as well hang-on and see if this is a-million-in-one?
Health insurance companies acting like trusts? Bullcrap.
It is the government that prohibits them from going across state lines. Look up how many insurance companies there are and then tell me they are trusts....
Even if what you say were true, it is not the governments place to offer "competition".
And "nobody is suggesting the gov't take over the health industry"? Are you kidding? The number of congressmen/women who say that is their ultimate goal with all this is legion. Don't forget that President Obama is on tape saying that "what (he'd) like to see is a single-payer health care system".
If the government is so great at health care than why is medicare going broke? Why is medicaid going broke? Why do most vets hate the VA?
You ask what are the poor supposed to do. Thats what medicaid was supposed to be for no? Is it working? If so, then why do we need more? If it is not, why are we going to trust the same jerks with more money/power?
Thanks for sharing. I did not know that about Texas.
I am interested in your point about a conflict of interest- I had never thought about it that way.
Again, for the record, I really do think that something needs to be done with our health care system. The costs are outrageous.
But I think socializing it is the absolute worst idea for many reasons (First of all it gives WAY to much control to an already bloated Federal govt. Second, NOTHING the govt does is cheaper than the private sector.)
I do believe that the rise of the HMOs is a large part of why it is so damn expensive here....
Not cheap to me.
I got in at .0001.
Made some REAL nice profit.
I wish INCL the best and am looking to get back in once they get their act together....
Yeah,
there have been a couple of red flags. For now I will hope that there is another explanation, but I have pulled out all my money in this until a satisfactory explanation is made by the company.
because the company has provided no numbers yet.
Once they address the issue of the R/S and give numbers about the 20 year contract it should (provided there is no R/S and its a good contract) fly.
I got out last week and am waiting with more powder should the above happen.
So have we broken the support from early september?
Though I'm in for the long haul it would be depressing to see this go back to .10
