Rented a Kia Sorrento to buy new freezer at Costco. Fit perfectly!
Good morning Traders!
Any chance HNU.to is headed for consolidation? I think it already did some time ago (or was that another ETF?)

Markets falling today -- banks hit hard -- gld still up up
ASUS, Samsung or Toshiba are good (imo) but it really depends on what you need it for.
Most laptops (like cars) are quite acceptable except personally I avoid ACER but that is just me. A salesperson told me once just get whatever is cheapest on sale and you will most probably be happy with it.
Wow! That is amazing!!! Thanks for sharing!!! I don't feel so old anymore nor does the Park Avenue
;)
Talked to mechanic today that has serviced Park Avenue for over 12 years and I think that I will stick to what has served me best over the last few decades.
Reading a few online articles, I am getting the impression that overall the Elantra could be my best choice. Now the real question is about parts and labour. Will they be more expensive than the Honda Civic? I suspect so but ...
Honda Civic vs Elantra (or Sonata) Hyundai
Starting to think of buying a new economical car to replace 1991 Buick Park Avenue or at least as a major stand-by car.
Are parts more expensive for Honda than Hyundai and which is a better buy long term (5-7 years)? Somebody said Honda would retain value better long term. Toyota Corolla has been a stalwart for years but definitely more expensive to buy initially. Is servicing much more expensive on a Honda than a Hyundai? Any other alternative such as Chev Cruze that you might consider instead?
Thanks all for any feedback!

Sounds like reality to me - not conspiracy!
Hmmmm? I may be totally wrong after all. I had a BSOD on shut down late last night after a long fruitful day on computer.
I guess I better get used to the idea of resorting to a factory default setting and start all over as recommended by many here.
I am now 95% sure that the new Windows update is the reason for my sudden BSOD lately.
Laptop was working great for several days when a Windows update got past me and installed itself. I tried to uninstall it but it did not seem to work. Tried restore again but I guess the update installed itself as I ended up with a blue screen.
I did F8 and did a Startup Repair again and all is well since. I have changed the settings on Windows Updates to prevent download and install.
Not crazy about not keeping Windows up-to-date but beats geting BSOD.

Original Viewsonic monitor from one of my first computers ever is still working fine. Cannon camera will never die.
She sure did and is very alert to scams ... Congrats to her and thanks for sharing!!
Strange call yesterday where the call display showed #7 and the voice on the other end sounded like somebody in India and in India. They did not identify themselves and just blurted out, 'you get unwanted files on computer'. At first I said yes and then I remembered about some scam where they keep you on the line as long as possible so they can charge exorbitant long distance fees.
In retrospect I should have hung up right away when they didn't identify themselves.

After many BSOD I finally seem to have resolved the problem with Start-up Repair which I came across accidentally on my hard drive after experimenting with other restore pts.
If the problem is not really gone, I will go back to the drawing board and back up everything and reset the machine to factory defaults (which I prolly should do anyway).
Thanks huge Cowboy! You da best!!
Got a lot of work ahead of me but it could save my puter.
Thank you very much Mike for the detailed explanation and for taking the time to illustrate the process.
I will try it today.
Thanks Cowboy!
I really don't know what to think anymore.
I have a blue screen on boot up about once every three or four tomes, and almost a different message every time. If I let it boot up normally in Windows it does.
Last night I was watching The Big Game and as the streaming video froze I rebooted this time I got a
0X0000000 which is supposed to be pretty lethal except it seems to apply to Windows XP.
I did a registry defray and it rebooted fine as it did this morning.
So either I have virus which I believe to be unlikely as the laptop is well protected, a need for driver update but I don't get the same message every time anymore or possibly a corrupt registry from incomplete uninstall ( though I use Revo but again I had a blue screen once while doing uninstalls as I thought maybe I had too many virus malaware protection).
What a mess! I have a bad feeling this machine will never be the same again.
I have started shopping for a new laptop in case I have to buy one fairly quick.
Thanks Cowboy!!

Thanks there is a driver update for the WebCam
Yikes, I found it and it seems their are quite a few including BIOS update, Card Reader, Wireless card, modem, and WEBCAM.
The BIOS update is the one that scares me the most as I know if I f*ck up this one I can say goodbye mama!!!
Ok thanks! I will go check it out....
I am nervous about upgrading mb of computer but that is just me being insecure about my IT abilities.
Yes I have and yes I do have a yellow exclamation mark. However, it does not identify the device.
I Googled the code and message and I found it means either the motherboard or video card require an update. I do not want to touch mb or vc.
Anyway things are way better now but I still would like to fix it completely.
Thanks mm!!
I found this while googling ConfigFlags_Failed Install 00000040
http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/unkown-device-problem-maybe-chipset-related-488183.html
Not clear if the problem is an upgrade to video card or mother board, but one peep said that it is specific to 64bit (which I have) and only relevant for OC (which I would never do anyways).
I hope disabling it was not a mistake.
Please let me know what you think when you have time.
Thanks!
It is listed under other devices with a yellow exclamation pt. I disabled it and everything still seems to work fine.
Under Properties I found:
Message CONFIG_FLAGS_FAILED INSTALL came up as well as code 00000040 and Code 28.
I just disabled it for now. [tag]insert-text-here[/tag]
Updates for Windows Vista Premium done but still get pop up saying driver not found for peripheral. Not sure what that peripheral is all seem to work fine.
Bottom line is no blue screens yet although yesterday I had one while eliminating recently installed programs that I thought I could live without like ThreatFire.

Getting less memory crash dump error messages but interestingly every time I boot up, Windows is looking for a driver it can't find ...I only have Altec Speakers, Iomega HD 1 TB and a cheap $1 mouse from China and my Viewsonic monitor of which none ever gave me a problem before.
I did delete some programs like ThreatFire and that seems to have helped minimize blue screen crashes.

I agree -- that is what I was saying in a somewhat sarcastic way. Have a great weekend!
Lol roflmfao you so cruel you so funny!!
Yes I could do that ...
Bookmarked it as next laptop will have Win7
Thanks
Finally got it working for a second time. I have not dared shut it down but the guilty Iomega Prestige peripheral has been used without crashing system ... so far!
Funny you should say that as my problems started right after I was reading about a massive cyber attack on Windows users.
No about restore and about canned air I will try that as it is something similar that worked earlier today.
Thanks Malak
OH NO!! I yelped victory way too fast. After having fixed it for all of 20 minutes or so I turned on my Iomega peripheral hard drive to do a back up and right away it crashed! ;( Grrrr!
The message when it crashes is as follows:
Collecting data for crash dump.
Beginning dump of physical memory.
I have tried all kinds of options under F8 that seem promising, but nothing works so far.
If I get frustrated enough I will reformat or install Linux and start all over, but I am not even sure that would be a solution as memory problems could affect other OSes?
Somebody please give me a lead I can pursue with hope .... thanks!
