Thanks for posting that. I can sure understand about the peaceful part and watching the dolphins.
I found whether I was in CIC on the USS Chicago (CG-11) in Subic Bay or on a sailing yacht in South Haven, MI., Folks had one thing in common, the love of the deep blue and the wonder and peace it can bring.
For me, it was watching the dolphins play off the bow, while they surfed the wake as we moved full steam ahead into the future without regard to where we were headed in the time of need.

Paulie....all I can say is...."Gasp"!
Zeppy, although you provide an interesting and entertaining explanation of the origin of your alias, a simple search on the worldwide interweb offers another interpretation:
Click Here: Do you sometimes look at people and wonder how they've made it so far?
Thank you! :)
Dang! You are old! That's what my father drove. The only good thing I recall about it was that it had a great heater.
You mean this one? I'll try it awhile I guess!

It sounds obvious when you say "concentration is not relaxing" but until you live it sometimes it is hard to grasp.
Especially if you are a teenager.
Especially if it was your mom's suggestion.
btw - nice compromise - you can stay up as late as you want as long as the phone gets turned off at 9. I like it!
My father had a boat too. He kept it on the Chesapeake Bay. He always said it could sleep six, twelve in love. He and a doctor friend invented funnelators. That's another story.
Might try my hand at repairing cement cracks in my patio this summer. I'm pretty brave when it comes to DIY, lol Know where to scream for help if I muck it up.
Haha - good for you!
My parents bought a boat that we could all sleep on when I was a young adult so I got a tiny taste of the boating life as we went on a couple of trips with them. The great thing about the boating community is that it is a great leveling of the field...you would be docked next to a really nice older couple with a smallish boat on one side and this amazing yacht on the other. And, everyone was friendly with each other on the dock and often found there was a lot more in common than just the love of boating.
Hope you get your next boat soon. :)
I'm lucky and am pretty good at it. I live in a townhouse and one day I was talking to Bob the maintenance guy and was telling him I just put in a new kitchen faucet and you should have seen his face, he said "you did" and I said yup.
That's a really interesting passion - do you do anything professionally with it or purely amateur?
Haha - I'm about the furthest person you can get from a DIYer. Years ago I decided I was going to buy cool antiques that needed to be refinished. I didn't get past stripping and sanding my first end table before I decided never again.
Haha! I was trying to appeal to my teenage daughter's rational side and show her all of the studies that say that being on devices before bed really changes your sleep patterns. She was convinced the best (and only) way she could get to sleep was watching Netflix on her phone.
Now on school nights she loses her phone at 9pm and can stay up as late as she wants doing other things - drawing, reading, etc. Rarely is she asleep later than 11pm now and still thinks her device had nothing to do with it. :)
I don't live on the boat anymore. We had to move off the boat when our daughter was born. We live in our home upriver but still overlook the river.
Living on the boat was great. It had power and we would often "anchor out".From the water, we always had a great view of the Washington Monument fireworks display on the 4th of July. Some of friends kept dogs on board. They seemed well adjusted. We had an interesting group of neighbors who lived aboard. Congressmen, CIA and other Washington "power type" people. I always enjoyed it when Malcolm Forbe's crew would bring his yacht the "Highlander" in and tie up at the end of my dock. They would stay for a few weeks and just hang out....Malcolm would entertain for a night or two and would then leave town. After Malcolm left, his crew would invite a few of us on board for cocktails. It was a fascinating yacht. My wife had never been on a boat before she met me but now, 30 years later she thinks we should get another one.
My alias derives from my love of archaeology. There is a time in Egyptian prehistory known as zep-tepi....or the First Time. It was a time when it was believed that the Gods walked the earth, and that all was well with the world.
I've taken a lot of kidding thru the years for the name, but it hasn't diminished my enjoyment of archaeology, anthropology and science in general.
I try to inject a little "humor" into my posts. Laughter can (almost) heal the aftermath of a bad trade!
I'm thinking pre-war 1940 or maybe 41 Ford. Very nice.
Hey, come on over, I'm redoing my window screens.
Cash for short, fits right in with Investing!
I did use caps. Maybe you didn't see them:

I still do not sleep well. Never have. It is better if I exercise during the day and especially during the evening.
I would nap if I were not working full time. I have just learned to deal with it.
Unfortunately, one of the things the experts say to avoid before bed time is computer work or computer gaming things that require close attention and concentration. :)
Nothing specific right now. But I do as much house repair myself as I can. Did a lot of "DIY" work on bicycles back-in-the day when racing etc ...
So, what's your "do it yourselfer" you're doing these days?
Nice song and the reasons for it. It's fun to walk down memory lane.
Combination of things. I borrowed a great big brewpot from someone, but had to give it back. About the same time, went through a big kitchen remodel, so the house was a mess, combined with little kids wearing me out, and just drinking less ...... It's a lot of work, and there's a great variety available these days too.
Thanks Shelly,
I actually really liked the show. Grab some popcorn and binge starting with season 1.
You gotta kind of a dark sense of humor and there are some parts that are kinda sad. Cult classic though.
Ellen Muth is hilarious.
Thanks again for the compliment.
Not only that but we used to sing this song:
I KNEW we could do it!!!!! Thanks for figuring that out!
(Edit - next time use caps for H, A, B!)
....and as young Dan toured the Willys assembly plant in awe the words 'holy toledo' were born.
no, that was it.
Right back at ya Jason! I have a son-in-law named Jason. Hey....GO OU!!!
Oh, I've just had fun chatting with ppl and hearing their stories. I think putting it in the iBox is a nice touch, but no big deal - when it happens it does. :)
I gotta get caught up with putting names in Ibox when I get time.
Nice to meet you Count.
Jason
Renee, one of the nicest people I've met on iHub, has agreed to help out here as a Mod as well. Welcome and thank you so much!
Btw, anyone else who is interested in other Users' stories, who is kind! and has any interest in going in as Mod, please let Flo or I know.
So, individuals had cameras or it was one of those old timey ones where you see a photographer with a camera, a black sheet over his head and then some crazy sort of external flash?

Did they change the Breakout boards yet? Are we going to be included now? ;)
Sure. The problem was you had to take the exposed film to a drugstore to have it developed. That was probably before you were born. :) Later we had the 35mm slide camera's. You might remember those.
I still have the original for that picture and lots of other old ones. I scanned it so now I have a digital copy.
Wait - that was the name of it, right? Bob's site? Clearly no longer if I have it right...

Maybe I'm looney...
HA! I bet your sig tagline is why I thought of the Count. You should use that as your avatar. :)
I feel like we're back on Talkzilla. :)
Wow - they had cameras back then? ;)
That's the best part of sending you messages Shelly, always brings me a smile :)
Haha - Paulie - what a resource you are! Here I was calling it an anagram and it was really just Zar trying to thwart the multiple alias rule. Nicely done. :)
