My parents bought a boat that we could all sleep on when I was a young adult so I got a tiny taste of the boating life as we went on a couple of trips with them. The great thing about the boating community is that it is a great leveling of the field...you would be docked next to a really nice older couple with a smallish boat on one side and this amazing yacht on the other. And, everyone was friendly with each other on the dock and often found there was a lot more in common than just the love of boating.
