I started trading via a chance overheard remark in a bar where I was booking the band I used to manage. The fellow was discussing $10k he had made in one of the early GTEL runs. We traded numbers, I opened an account and bought some (GTEL *never* worked for me, btw--everytime I zigged? It ZAGGED, lol). Anyway, I wound up purely by chance on the same board where my "mentor" posted. By that time, I had decided I would enter a "five-year plan," ie, give myself five years to become "expert" at trading... (since then, I have backed off the "expert" ideal, lol). Part of my plan was to focus on Texas companies, thinking I would be able to check them out easier than others that were further away... Hence, I would "Buy Tex(as companies.) Of course, the fallacy of my plan slowly dawned on me... Along the way, as I posted more and more, asking questions--then later answering questions--folks began calling me "Tex." It stuck, but I couldn't change, here. Elsewhere, I am known simply as Tex ...
