In Mar./Apr. of 2004, there was a decrease in the price of IDCC stock of almost 50%. I wasn't invested in or closely following the stock at that time (although now I am long on IDCC), so I'm unfamiliar with the news environment affecting the stock at that time. Any theory on why the price dropped at that time would be appreciated.
L2V. Course the issue is the rates! Nok probably wants to give qualcom 1% and idcc .1%. There's more than likely some resistance there. Will be interesting how nok bargains with qualcom. May give us some better insight. .. nic

Read the related story links from The Register, which provides a good overview of big picture in recent IPR licensing events... NOK is clearly a benefactor, by virtue of MFL with Interdigital- so may be receiving support from some competitors and operators to cap/fix ipr royalty prices paid both Q & I, with EU support?... (missing is the impact of LG). Keep in mind this series addresses cumulative impacts & implies cross-licensing.. both non-manufacturers Q and Interdig aren't players...suggesting an element of collusion using the EU involving European operators offering phone subsidies to pressure NOK and Ericy to not cave into Interdigital & pressure Q to lower their ipr rates.... also they collectively fear the Japanese and Korean manufacturers already licensed with both Q & I can be warded off with the help of EU governing etsi????
