"What does it mean when your patent application is published and publicly available? Most patent applications get published after 18 months. An applicant can request that their application not get published by filing a request of non-publication, but most applications do get published. If you file that request to non-publication, it limits the ability to foreign file the application under PCT or other country convention rules. Therefore, most applications do get published at the USPTO within 18 months. When the application is published, it means it is under review by a patent examiner that has been assigned to the case. It is publicly accessible so people can search it. It might be used as a prior art against other claims that are being filed on different patents. It is generally an indicator that the office action process will start soon or you will start getting substantive remarks regarding your claims and the merits of those claims."

Sami1327 thanks so much for the patent application. Are you saying that this was published 23 August, 2012 and we pretty much missed it til now?

Beautiful, just beautiful. Elegant is the word I want. I now want to grow up and be George Vojtech. To Baghdad Bob's credit, he had down the dynamic flexing of the segments for steering control but the strapping I conjectured earlier is also here so it has multiple means of reconfiguring its shape in flight. It very much mimics biological propulsion in some ways.

I barely hit the motor size (17hp is the standard with an upsizing to 22hp)--I was low I think. I missed the manufacturer as well--I was guessing a Hirth. There is much more to dig through here so I thank you profusely Sami. I have to work today but i will print off a hard copy and got to bed with it tonight. IMO this is REAL IP that has significant value. So glad i own a piece of this. GLTA. IndyJonesOhio.

Please note--this is an ARGUS patent. I contend that that the BiB is actually running ahead of the Argus at the moment for procurement--JMHO. IMO the technical challenges of the BiB are real but much less daunting than were faced in this ARGUS design. IMO anyone who could do this could easily make an elegant and proprietary BiB system. I know the game is getting complex--Argus, BiB, other aerostats, GTC satcomms, GTC sat trackers, GTC ground stations--but it is an important time to keep one's eye on all the possible avenues of advance IMO. My sincere thanks to management and Eastcor for what is IMO great work. Having fun, IndyJonesOhio.

Jan 17, 2012 .. 'Company has completed initial demonstrations of its Argus One UAV to the U.S. Department of Defense'

Feb 29, 2012 .. 'announced today that it has filed a United States patent application for an airship design and a method of controlling the airship based on its Argus One UAV.'

May 9, 2012 .. 'Company has filed a provisional patent application on an Argus Hybrid aerostat/airship design'

So, the official filing date on this “Published’ Patent form for the Argus is Jan 17 / 2012 .. the same date we’re told they’ve completed initial demonstrations .. because they now have a working model / prototype

I believe the Hybrid aerostat/airship design patent application is a result of this ‘starter motor 708’ .. that assists in starting the main ‘motor 704’

“[0037] .. one embodiment the propulsion module 408 also includes a starter motor 708 coupled to the motor 704 that assists in starting the motor 704”

So maybe the Argus can shut off the motor after it reaches a set location .. drift back in the wind .. start back up & fly forward again.

So, if that’s the case .. that means that the Hybrid design is already proven too .. well, they need to prove they can release from the tether system .. but I love this Hybrid version & imagine it sittin’ pretty along border patrol and the desire its capability would entice .. imo
