Re: The problem with TPM PC deployment to public is that the public has to purchase a new PC. It has been easy and cheap to purchase software, but a new PC can be a real burden to many. Cost is what I think will slow the deployment in the private sector.

As I See It
---------------------------------

I agree. The bulk of regular consumers only buy a new PC when that which they use it for the most begins to suffer in performance and/or it requires a desired software upgrade that might not be handled well with their current PC specs.

I see little problem with business deployment, however, considering security has become their number one issue.

ASISEEIT...No Problem for the Govt Sector.

The way i see it the Govt can buy a million PCs for the DOD or Homeland Security and announce that this a "critical need PC" because of security considerations.

Then, the private sector (regular consumers) hear about the govt purchase and says, "Hey, I need that kinda security too. I don't want my identity stolen!!!".

Then, the snowball starts to grow big time as it rolls down the hill.

Watch out below!!!!!!!!!!!!

and so it goes.

Like the more astute posters here believe,,, it makes sense that the PUBLIC will buy the computers WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE of the SECURED TRUST they house.....like the old 286, 386, Pentium I, Pentium II, bla bla bla LONGHORNEY...

and so it goes....haha,, so it goes?
