Delaware North Companies Is First to Bring uWink's Unique Self-Service and Entertainment Technology to Airport Travelers

http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/080922/0435993.html

Delaware North is intrigued by uWink's technology and concept for making restaurants faster, more fun and more efficient. Delaware North is using the uWink terminals at Chili's as a test for potential expansion to other airport restaurants the company operates.

"We visited one of the uWink restaurants in California and could see the speed and excitement that the interactivity brought to the customer experience," King said. "We knew we wanted to make uWink's self-service and fun games a part of the experience we provide travelers."

Delaware North, through its Travel Hospitality Services division, is the exclusive food service and retail provider at the Fort Lauderdale airport and operates more than 300 branded restaurants and retail locations at 25 major airports worldwide.

eGLX, surprising info (to some)

See link at the bottom of the partners page:

http://www.uwink.com/technology/partners

Wanted to share a few things about eGLX that maybe some of you know, but that I had absolutely no clue about until now:

1. I knew uWink has worked with Chinese companies for hardware/software/game development. I did NOT know that Nolan was on the Board of eGLX. See bottom of http://www.eglx.com/company_introduction.htm

These guys seem like a big deal...not just a "cheap contractor". Maybe they've always been looked at as a gateway to the Asian market?

2. Raw mentioned at one point that a bunch of the uWink games were developed in China. Honestly, I did not believe it at first. But check this out: http://www.eglx.com/games_kiosk.htm

It seems like just about the whole, original game catalog is listed here (I think the newer, "Room Games" are all developed in house)! This partnership is much more important than I previously thought.

Just a comment on the website. It is now a nice website that comes across as a software vendor with restaurants, not a restaurant chain with cool technology. Very well done.

All of the products on this page;

http://www.uwink.com/technology/products

are what is available in the restaurants. There is not one thing there that I would consider new or not a part of what is in the restaurants. There is nothing there unique to an airport environment or a seniors environment, for example. All of those features are integral to Woodland, HH and MV. Remember it does not matter what is being sold, those things are easily personalized. Simply download some photos and writeup, and you are there.. But, it is very well presented now as packaged products. All they need now is a pricing scheme and they are off to the races.

It looks like their first generally available offering is the Quick service Restaurants. They have a name there, Jeff Kelly (Inside Sales guy?). Those looks like items that are available at a firm price. Derivatives of the restaurant software.

I would think that a 6-month sales cycle is reasonable. So, I maintain the best thing is a end of year. beggining of year play.. sales likely in the New Year, with new budgets..
