It's rather obvious that the patients in the ch9 news story have completed the trial and are now in the OLE. How else would they know they are on the drug? There's no chance these are placebo patients; the news channel wouldn't be that negligent to do a story with patients that might be on a placebo

I completely agree. Let common sense prevail here again.

A. What a coincidence that now that the OLE has started for some time now, the news story appeared.
B. Why on EARTH would the trial investigators select a patient from either the control arm or the real thing when they have an OLE going on.
Posters who otherwise are suggesting that the prof is as thick as cotton candy.

They may infer based on dizziness and feeling better that the patients in question was on A2-73 rather than placebo.

Yes obviously all News stations always check their facts otherwise they would be negligent. A fantastic example of that would be Fox News when they liken Denmark to Venezuela. [Sarc].

Many things are possibly, although unlikely. But, seriously yes I do think it is more likely that the two patients in the News are indeed on A2-73 just as MacFastlane suspects.

Because of what Macfarlane said - "we don't know who's on the drug, it's a placebo controlled trial" - and because of the dizziness. Mcfarlane's point, and the story's, was they were likely on the drug, likely getting therapeutic effect, and that there were others.

Brad, you are correct about the two people being in the OLE when this was recorded. In the OLE, there is no need for silence since all are receiving 2-73. In the 48 week trial, though, there probably is a clause of silence that, if not adhered to, will result in participant being removed from the trial, e.g., the last comments from Miss Australia re: P2a trial.

Additionally, it may have been one or both of the participants who contacted the TV station to extol the benefits of 2-73, especially if either one was receiving the placebo during the 48 weeks and when entering the OLE, received 2-73 for the first time and wanted to "shout for joy" at its impact.

A comment on another related topic: Not noted in any of the prior posts I read is that it is wrong to state that if a participant had no dizziness that s/he were on the placebo. It may have been possible that 2-73 caused no side effects for that person.
