We have blue jays in NorCal. They love to use their beaks and shovel ALL the birdseed ~OUTT of the feeders. Nasty bastards - tho the squirrels love it because it's a massive seed spill everytime a jay perches on the feeder and begins the malicious shoveling.
DaMomInLaw's backyard getts northern Cardinals every year. They are very pretty and usually are matched male/female pairs. DaMomInLaw is a cardinal fanatic. Her house is full of cardinal stuph.
I have bluebirds here once in awhile in Western New York, which is surprising because I'm in the woods. But at my place down in Georgia, they're lots of them in the fields everywhere and we have houses for them to nest in.
Here, my favorite song bird is the catbird. When he's not sounding like he's meowing, of course.
I'd bet you have goldfinches. Very pretty, and social. Hang a finch sock. You'll probably get house finches first, kind of drab but the males have red in breeding season. The squirrels don't seem to go after mine
