So if DC-Vax is a failure why would Linda Liau et al. continue trials to determine why some patients respond and other do not?


First, failure of a trial does not always imply the drug is a failure. See Herceptin for a classic example of a drug that failed a key mid stage trial yet is now a blockbuster.

Oh, and what saved Herceptin was the understanding of what patients responded.

Second, I would not that both these were published in late '16. The trials could well have started last decade.

Even most all bears acknowledge that DC vaccines are somewhat effective. It is finding the correct "secret sauce" and patient selection that could make one a winner.

Hsp, the last sentence in the second investigation is very assuring that they are convinced DCVax works and are into better understanding the underlying mechanism. So I wonder why L is not approved yet while the researchers are after further advances of the therapy. Looks like LP et al can't drag it any longer.
