larry,

re: It can't be out of ink, just not used ...

Actually, it could be out of ink ... really, I imagine the ink has dried out while sitting in your unused printer. This dried ink has probably "adhered" your cartridge to it's cradle.

First, I would try to gently rock the cartridge back and forth to loosen the dried ink. Do the rocking in the direction your cartridge normally moves when installing or removing it. If that doesn't work, does your printer have a cleaning regimen? If it does, run it through the cleaning process a few times.

As a last attempt, try cleaning around the bottom of the cartridge and it's cradle in the printer with swabs saturated with rubbing alcohol, again trying to free up the dried ink.

If you finally get it out, clean the cradle thoroughly with rubbing alcohol on the swabs. Give it plenty of time to dry before installing a new ink cartridge.

Hope this helps!

Larry, The heads have way old ink in them, If youy don't use those ink jets once in a while the ink goes bad, and you will need fresh ink, and clean the heads several times!!!

Hi Larry, get rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs. Take the ink-jet cartridge out of the printer and clean off the dried ink with the alcohol socked cotton swabs. Let the cartridge dry and then try it in the printer. It is my understanding that the ink jets are built into the cartridge.
