What I have heard from my physician friends is that they struggle to get people to change behavior even when failure to make that change has dire consequences. I guess when people "hit bottom" with their health, they might take two very different trajectories. Glad to hear you were able to successfully make so many beneficial changes though.

KIWI...

Sorry I can not confirm your opinion that patients respond according to their illnesses...

Do you think all those fat people out there think being fat is better than being thin...Have you ever seen a guy who had a tongue, neck jaw procedure smoking a cigarette through his thrach stoma. Know anyone who has more than one convictions for DUI?

Life is tough and addictions make it even tougher...The R-I crowd is going to have its shares of boozers, fatties and cigarette smokers...Hard for these guys even to take their medicine much less change their lifestyle..Tell an old cigarette smoker he is risking his health and he'll tell you he rather die then give up cigs...basically no one who doesn't follow the rules, thinks the rules apply to them...Not everyone "loves living".

In facelift surgery smokers are a problem...You tell them to stop the cigarettes 7 days before surgery and stay off them for two weeks later, or they could lose the skin on their face...Do all of them stop..Hell no..about 70% cheat and some pay the price,,,got it?
