I certainly agree AAPL is king of the smart phone, but As stated, Its a process of taking market share that may not show for " years/ decades" . But clearly based on targeting marketing , Samsung is after the youth, and in my limited knowledge base , they are winning , and primarily because APPLE ID not engaging the battle on that front. AAPL Seems to be targeting age groups slightly older than Samsung targets, again , just an observation.

But, the youth is crucial IMO, w long term payoffs galore, should Samsung gain that market.

I think the trend is changing and we are in the early stages of that.

Reminds me of years ago someone asked me about investing in Blackberry (it was still RIMM at the time, Research In Motion) I told them no way and that apple was the way to go.

Arguments were presented on how RIMM was more business applicable and how they had the large percentage of that market share, people loved the physical keyboard, etc. All true at the time but the trend was changing. We know how that story unfolded.

I'm just sensing a similar trend change unfolding.
I do agree with the other mobile brands seeming dead and apples structure and it's own OS yielding larger profits while others are in "share"........ I still feel Samsung will be gaining more ground on the market share meaning less revenue and profit for apple. Believe it or not, good ole BBRY may be making a comeback as well.

This coupled with what I feel to be a lack of new innovation, and I that the "value" for the products in general was better 5-6 years ago (more bang for the buck) gives me a sense of upcoming declining earnings. I'm not so sure this year is gonna be conducive to status symbols either.

They're also gonna have to step it up a bit and not rely on the paper game of shuffling out corporate bonds and buying back shares for earnings increase.

Time will tell and we'll see what comes out in the numbers

apple has high margins because they price gouge.
apple did the same thing with macs vs PCs in the 80s/90s.
and by the end of the 90s, even with windows best offering be win95/win98 (clunky at best),
apple nearly went out of business.

to the point where apple wooed TheSteve back to cupertino
and rebounded with the imac, etc...

consider that TheSteve is now out of the picture again
as he was in the early 90s.

then look at iWatch sales,
which, per earlier post, may become more compelling
once iWatch becomes a VR platform.
but that's probably a year or two away, maybe more.

imo, the chart below speaks volumes.
apple invented the touch phone market
and android proceeded to dominate it.

with apple's cash reserve, i don't see them going under any time soon.
but i do feel their revenue stream will wane
unless they can splash another game-changing product by 2018.
eg: the killer VR app...
