ok we can agree to disagree. I will take this advise though and next time I go see my MD and even though I see his diploma on the wall and I know they must carry insurance... I will go further and ask him for an updated copy of transcript as proof and update insurance policy as proof.

I wonder what the judge thinks...

Exactly. I would hope even landscapers would be licensed AND insured so they can pay into Worker's Comp, etc. If I hire a contractor and it has a lic.# on the side of the vehicle and an I.D. number I call up to verify that contractor is licensed and insured(incl. coverage). OSHA frowns upon unlicensed/insured when making surprise visits to sites. I know first hand. GLTA PR

You are correct

I do it a hundred times a year.

I send you a certificate of insurance

I do not have to tell you if limits have already been reduced due to other claims

I do not have to tell you the policy has exclusions and limitations
that make paying anything unlikely

I have seen contractors with zero insurance send their own certificates of insurance.

The folks that verify insurance do not know squat about insurance.

It's a great scam

Should be a standard vendor profile risk assessment. Do it all the time. I am sure they went with a low cost provider
