Most people are taking one a day...The principal effect of the omega-3s in fish oils, on CVDs (and other degenerative diseases) is to counter the chronic inflammation related to high AA levels resulting from diets high in Omega-6s and fast acting carbs..

EPA provides most of the anti-inflammatory effect, by slowing the conversion of omega-6s into AA, and by competing with AA for cell membrane receptors which control chronic inflammation..This competition means the effects of EPA are highly dose dependent. Taking one or two fish oil pills a day does not provide adequate EPA to produce a significant effect...
