The video required me to listen to the first 9:50 minutes. I tried, but I couldn't take her sarcasm that long.

I'm surprised that he can't buy Anatabloc in Canada. Is there a problem getting it through customs if you order it direct from the company?
I hope it helps all of his problems. There are no guarantees in life, but so far, everyone I know who hasn't had a reaction to the Sucralose in the flavored lozenges has found it helpful.

I just received my recurring order
a few minutes ago. I had ordered 2 200-count bottles of the unflavored and one box of 10 dispensers. I received 2 300-count bottles, one box and 5 individual dispensers and two copies of a 'Usage Card" (actually 4x6 1/2 sheets of paper with the new dosage recommendations and the note that, "As a special value, each Advantage Club Member will now receive 50% More Anatabloc for the same price."
The bottles are the same size, just heavier.
Dino
Lindy,
Sorry, I can't respond by private message. I can do so on investor village and post under the same name there. I would be happy to talk to you further. If you prefer, send me an email address by PM and I could respond that way.

I think you're close. I think that Anatabloc eliminates the systemic inflammation in my body and allows my immune system to concentrate on teh real problem. I think I've mentioned before that I was diagnosed with bladder cancer about a year and a half ago. The urologist removed two malignant tumors. I had begun taking CigRx a couple of weeks before. Three months later, I passed two blobs of son=mething in my urine stream and biopsies of two 'suspicious' sites were 'indeterminate'' and three months after that, a biopsy indicated 'normal'.
The standard treatment for cancer of the bladder is a technique call immunotherapy. A live bacteria called BCG is instilled into the bladder. Yup, via catheter. The bacillus, which is a 60X strength of the vaccine for tuberculosis, stimulates the immune system which kills (?) the remaining tumors and flushes them, literally, down the toilet.
This time (I underwent BCG treatment once a week for six weeks and then once a month for a year in 1984. I test positive on a Tyne test because of it.), the only treatment was Anatabloc. Yes, a sample size of 1, but it definitely made a believer of me.
I also have the usual results as well. Arthritic pain slowly disappeared, stamina increased, CRP and TSH reduced to 'optimal range', etc.

I just called customer service. They sound like they are overwhelmed with calls. I Had to call a second time to get a connection on which both of us could hear the other.
When I asked about my scheduled order, the rep informed me that GNC was charging $100 for the same product and I was only being charged $79.99 because I'm on periodic delivery. She also said that my order indicates that a complementary face cream is being included. Maybe that's to make up for the price differential?
Next call is to David Dean.
Dino
I object to the use of the word "taking". If I don't feel that the product is worth more than the price tag then I don't buy it. If the seller doesn't feel that the money (or other object of value) I'm giving him isn't worth more than his product, then he won't sell it to me. That's how commerce - and most of life - works. It's hard to recognize at times, but vitamin salesmen, newsletter writers, stock brokers, even lawyers work that way.
I'm retired now, so I give my services away most of the time. What do I get in return of more value? A good feeling. Satisfaction. A "Thank you" from the recipient. Sometimes, just a smile.
Oh yeah, sometimes that recipient helps me when I need it too.
Dino
I haven't tried contacting Will Block yet, but my message to Durk Pearson apparently didn't get through. I hope to see him in person in a couple of months. I'll bring a sample with me.

From WebMD, an old article:
"why not make it public policy to encourage middle-aged people to use aspirin?"
Perhaps because government "encouragement" eventually turns into "requirement"? e.g., seat belts, helmets, vaccinations, etc.

I don't think of magnets for pain. I think of them for healing. Of course, healing usually alleviates pain, I suppose. We placed magnetic boots on the front feet of one of our horses. The vet was amazed at how fast she healed a torn tendon. Half the usual time. The damage and healing was verified by ultrasound. Since the mare is illiterate, I've discounted a placebo effect.
Oh, sorry. More mindless drivel.
Dino
Shank, you said "I've been taking it every day for months now without any consistent improvements."
Have you tried stopping for a week and seeing what reappears? My step daughter is working up to a half marathon. When her knee started to hurt, her doctor prescribed ibuprofen 4 times a day. After 2 weeks with no relief she took my suggestion and tried Anatabloc, 6/day. The pain went away after a few days, but she continued to take it because her recovery from running seemed quicker. She went away for a weekend (Marine Ball) and forgot to pack the Anatabloc. When she got back (must have been SOME dance, she was gone 4 days!), she said every joint and muscle hurt. She plans never to be without it again.
Yes, anecdotal. And from a 22 year old who was positive that I was imagining the benefits I claimed. And no, I don't expect my tale to change your mind, but I know several people who claimed no benefit from Anatabloc...until they stopped taking it.
Dino
They seem to be successful selling on the web. Groupon and fab sales seem to be the best, I think. Of course, those are the low end of the price scale. I noticed that British company Stanley Gibbons, known mostly for rare stamps and art, have some of the higher priced Frank Worth limited editions in their catalog.
Dino
Except that 23260 is a Richmond ZIP code. Glen Allen is 23059 or 23060.
Close, but no cigar. I suppose that;s appropriate for the creators of smoking cessation products like CigRx, though.
By the way, www.cigRx.com is registered to Julia Bartine of Los Angeles and www.starscientific.com is registered to Kevin Willis, their IT consultant, as I recall.
In other words, it may well be legit.
Dino
Here are the items to be discussed. The entire filing is 45 pages so I only copied the itinerary.
The proxy statement and annual report to shareholders are available at: http://material.proxyvote.com/85517P
The 2012 annual meeting of the shareholders of Star Scientific, Inc. (the “Company”) will be held at 9:30 A.M. on
December 14, 2012 in the Mayfair Court Room of the Westin Grand Hotel, 2350 M Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037 (the
“Annual Meeting”).
The proposals to be considered by the Company’s stockholders at the Annual Meeting are:
1. a proposal to elect six directors to the Company’s Board of Directors for one-year terms;
2. a proposal to approve an amendment to the Company’s Seventh Amended and Restated Certificate of
Incorporation to increase the total number of shares of common stock that the Company is authorized to issue
from 207,500,000 to 213,500,000;
3. a proposal to approve an amendment to the Company’s 2008 Incentive Award Plan to increase the number of
shares available for issuance from 14,900,000 to 16,900,000 shares;
4. a proposal to ratify the appointment of Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, L.L.P., as the Company’s independent
auditor to audit the Company’s 2012 financial statements;

the Annual Meeting.
The Board of Directors of Star Scientific, Inc. recommends that you vote “FOR” Proposals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Dino
Funny, that's how I read it. I wonder if someone actually published it that way somewhere. I haven't found it yet, but I haven't looked at all of my usual sources.
Dino
I think your options would still be on Star. The value of Star would probably be enhanced if they sold the division, reduced if they spun it off. I suppose it's possible to split the value of an option and issue partials for both companies, but I've never heard of it being done. My experience with that has been for large cap companies where the spin-off had a minor effect on the company's value. That actually increased the perceived value of the parent. Folks thought it was developing new companies and increasing its long-term value.
Darn good question, especially since I'm holding a bunch of January calls.
Dino
The only mention is of a penny/share for litigation.
"The adjusted results also exclude a charge of $0.01 per share for other tobacco-related litigation."
This could be Star or the $5million settlement with Mississippi mentioned in the 10Q.
Dino
The company sent out two announcements. The general manager has decided to "pursue other interests" and has been replaced by a former operations manager at Yamana, and the processor has disputed the amount of gold delivered. The alleged discrepancy is about 10%. In addition, because of additional maintenance work on the mine, they've reduced the forecast by a little. Sudden departures upset the market. So do disagreements.
From the announcement:
"The Company’s third quarter mill production of approximately 22,300 AuEq ounces represents a 64% increase over the previous quarter’s less than optimal production of 14,488 AuEq ounces. A dispute arose during the third quarter with the buyer of the Company’s metal concentrates that involves the buyer’s handling, control and sampling of those concentrates at the buyer’s warehouse, and the resulting assays the buyer obtained from those samples. The buyer is claiming net adjustments (reductions) to the Company’s provisional invoices of approximately 2,300 AuEq ounces. The Company’s third quarter mill production of approximately 22,300 AuEq ounces does not reflect any potential deduction for all or part of the 2,300 disputed AuEq ounces.
"Gold Resource Corporation’s President, Jason Reid, stated, “We have made considerable progress regarding mine development, including ground water management, as seen by our increase in production over last quarter. Though we continued to mine some lower grade ore zones in the third quarter from splays and vein margins, our stopes between levels 7 through 10 allowed us to mine higher-grade ore zones during the quarter that we believe will further increase our production levels in future quarters. We are currently focused on reducing dilution in our long hole stoping methods, implementing cut and fill mining in certain zones to minimize dilution and working to improve overall operational efficiencies.”
"In consideration of the near-term challenge of dilution for the remainder of 2012, the Company revises its 2012 annual production Outlook down to a range of 85,000 to 100,000 AuEq ounces."
This too shall pass.

In mystery stories, a red herring is a misleading clue. In the stock market, it's the term used to describe the preliminary prospectus for a new issue. The name comes from the warning legend printed on the cover that this is a preliminary version and should not be relied upon. I haven't seen a physical one in some time, but as I recall, there are also other statements in red ink in the first few pages, also. If a price per share or unit is even printed, it is also in red.
Dino
They've been using the first patented method. That one greatly reduces carcinogens. The new patent virtually eliminates them.
While they could introduce a new brand, they would be giving up decades of 'goodwill' from existing ones. Keeping the old ones as competitors to the new one(s) would still leave them open to class action suits for, now, deliberately selling a dangerous product when they could make it much safer.
You may be right, but I can't see them doing that.
Dino
These things take time.
The tobacco growing season has just ended. I think the curing process is underway. Even if it is not too late to implement Star's new technique for this season's crop, it will be quite a while before this year's crop makes it into smokers' hands. RJR can't advertise the new product until it is actually on the market. They probably can't even do so until they've waited for all of the 'old' style product is off the shelves. One method of doing that is to introduce it silently and wait a reasonable time to make sure that all retail outlets have been selling the new product before announcing it.
By the way, does anyone know if the new curing process changes the taste of the tobacco or the smoke? If it does, the blending has to be changed, or at least the flavor additives. Last, but certainly not least, as has been mentioned, packaging, ads, etc., have to be developed.
It is unlikely, probably illegal, that the announcement of the settlement will be postponed until after all of these things are accomplished, so there may be many "buying opportunities" in the future. When the settlement is announced, I expect to see a spike in the stock of both companies. Because Star is a relatively unknown, small cap stock, the price will drift down (maybe pushed down by the short sellers) until revenue from the settlement is announced. If the settlement is a sale, this will occur relatively quickly; however, if the settlement is in the form of a per-pack royalty, it will be months before the revenue flow is announced and possibly even a year before they, and the stock price stabilizes.
As I said, these things take time.
Dino
Interesting, since I gave you the address on the SEC form. 23113 is in Midlothian, VA. That's probably the ZIP for where the IR person lives. Glen Allen has two ZIP codes, 23059 and 23060. I think even the part of Cox Road that's in Henrico uses 23060. Although the suite number is probably not necessary, they don't occupy the entire building. It's a small town and so far, everyone I've met from the post office has been friendly and helpful.
MineAllMine said: But I also thought that mutual agreement to a gag order meant something fairly good."
Apparently you've not spent much time in court. (That's a good thing, by the way.) You don't get to 'agree' to a gag order. You can complain, you can request, but the judge issues the order and you WILL comply.
Dino
The snail mail address is

If memory serves me correctly, this is a combination of the ISCO creme and anatabine citrate. That would account for the price. A long time ago Patrick Cox wrote something about getting the two companies to work together.

Interesting discussion with my grandchildren yesterday. My granddaughter is now taking the unflavored Anatabloc (4/day) and is feeling much better. She reacted to the sucralose in the original formulation. She's had only one minor flareup of her colitus since starting on Anatabloc and that was when she could only tolerate two/day of the flavored ones.
My grandson, a 19 year old who wouldn't try Anatabloc until the results of the clinical trials were in, told me that when his stoma becomes irritated (he has an ostomy), he now takes the flavored ones his sister can't use and the swelling goes down much faster than whatever he considers 'normal'. He had no real answer when I asked him why he doesn't take them regularly instead of waiting until he has a problem. In addition to the colitus - which is gone now, along with his colon - he has Crohn's. Of course, he's also 19 and knows everything. Next year he won't be a teenager so hopefully he'll have an attack of the dumbs.
Dino
If you know all there is to know about NF-kB already, then feel free to skip over all posts concerning it. Those of us who didn't go to grad school to learn about it have to catch up to your level of knowledge.
Dino
I think you might have well written "Twas brillig and the slithy tove di gire and gymbol in the wabe."
Is there an English translation of that abstract?
Dino
Yes, it is. You haven't read the NDAA. If the government says so, it's now a crime to express your opinion. Actually, I don't know if it's a crime, but you can be held indefinitely without a trial.
Dino
Then you are simply parroting the government propaganda. A low fat diet is counterproductive for many, if not most, people. Cholesterol is manufactured by the human body from triglycerides, read carbohydrates, not fat. A low fat diet substitutes carbs for fats, resulting, in my case, with a triglyceride count of 471 and requiring a quintuple bypass. I had been following a low fat, low salt diet for more than 20 years.
I switched to a low carb diet, lost more than 30 pounds and dropped my total cholesterol count to 65 and BP to a dangerous level. We dropped most of my BP medications to raise it and, on the advice of my doctor, increased my carb intake to raise my cholesterol to 100-105.
I don't care what CDC or AMA says. I speak from experience, both mine and Dr. Adkins.
I suspect you also are confusing cause with effect. I believe that the body responds to inflammation of the arteries by producing that nice soothing cholesterol. That's just my opinion, of course, but recent research seems to be headed in that direction.
Dino
The unflavored ones are designed to be swallowed whole, although sometimes I let them dissolve in my mouth anyway. According to their research, either method works, including for the mint flavored ones. The molecule is small enough to enter the bloodstream before it is digested, or something like that. If they are upsetting her stomach, she should reduce the dosage. Even the unflavored ones contain mannitol.
Dino
Gee, I used to work for a large cosmetics company - Avon Products. I helped manufacture and package skin creams and lotions, etc. Does that make me an expert? I do still own a briefcase, but I'm not 50 miles from home.
Dino
Idle chatter? OK, then I'm wasting my time talking to you.
Bye,
Dino
Goody. That means I can buy yours.
Dino
There should be NO dilution going forward. There are no warrants and no stock option plan. That's a possibility in the future, I suppose, but Paul seems to be anticipating just collecting dividends instead. There isn't much cash at the moment, but the pre-production is producing half a mil or more per day. That should be sufficient to fund all future development.
I started following this company and buying the stock in June of 2010. My first purchase was at $0.03, my last, on Wednesday morning, at $0.13.
