The unflavored ones are designed to be swallowed whole, although sometimes I let them dissolve in my mouth anyway. According to their research, either method works, including for the mint flavored ones. The molecule is small enough to enter the bloodstream before it is digested, or something like that. If they are upsetting her stomach, she should reduce the dosage. Even the unflavored ones contain mannitol.
