No, I am going by what 0TC Market says about it. If the dispute is not resolved by the two parties, they will only accept a decision by a judge before removing the control dispute symbol.

Because no company is going to merge into a shell with a control dispute. Why would they risk their company being given to a another owner?

He’s not abandoning it. A judge will make a decision about who owns the shell. It will take months to get a court date.

The other side has attorneys too. Need a judge to decide. That isn’t going to happen by tomorrow.

Why would that make a difference?

Control disputes take a long time to resolve. Look at SBES. Still not resolved after many months. No company is going to merge with HDII until that gets taken care of, especially a company that hasn’t even made a decision to use HDII. I see major downside from here unless everyone is willing to wait for months for a reverse merger that might even take place. The company will probably find another shell without the problem of a control dispute.

On Feb 28, the stock was at its low. If any shorting was going to be done, it would have been at the high of the run which was mid March.

Unless they are naked. Naked shares will not get split. They will have to be covered. A r/s would absolutely expose any naked short shares if they exist.

I think MMs are doing a lot of covering here above the gap, knowing everyone believes the gap has to fill.
