Shout out to Rockland2u. Hit me up with a PM please. You sent me an email awhile back but can't find it.
I'm trying to find the contact info for the AA station boss at MIA. Can't seem to locate. Thanks.
So what happens if somebody still holds a short position when the symbol goes to ZERO?
How to play the R/S? Anybody have any strategies to be able to maximize the split?
Is there any interest by the company to uplist?
Just poured a Boru and cranberry. Strange. This has a distinct licorice taste to it that I have never noticed in other bottles. Tasted the cran and it's not there.
I'm a AAdvantage member. I don't have a lot of miles. Our family travels by air probably 4 times a year. Flew USAirways last week to NYC. The gate agent told me that USAir is not yet recognizing the free bag for AAdvantage members unless you are Platinum Elite. That's about 30 legs a year. I thought that was odd. I've been given free drinks on AA by just flashing my AAdvantage Visa.
Can't post a pic. I was at a place last night and the cocktail menu advertised Dark N Stormy. It said, dark rum and ginger ale. No mention of Goslings.
Flying on USAir tomorrow. Are they recognizing AAdvantage yet for free bags?
"I read recently that Southwest put out applications for 2,500 jobs. They received over 110,000 applications."
That doesn't mean that all 110,000 applicants are even close to being qualified for the job. As a LT fire officer for a major metropolitan FD, we receive thousands of applications for a handful of positions. By the time they all go through the screening process, it ends up being about 25% that make it to the final list. Even then, more are washed out during recruit training.
"They'd be able to fill the positions for anyone that left faster than they could step through the exit."
That's careless management. I've never owned a business. However, I don't want all rookies in my station. And I don't want all rookies on the plane I'm flying in either.
Stories make for good entertainment but hold little investment value. This one is going nowhere.
I'm not greedy. My vote as a SH would be to give the distribution to the employees. They make it all happen. Happy employees means happy customers means happy shareholders. If I get a distribution rock, I'll give it to you. Or better yet, does your Union have a charity arm? I'll give it to them.
The union leaders vote to send the contract to the bargaining unit members. It is up to the members to decide if they like or dislike the contract proposal. Leaders cannot encourage members to vote one way or another. That would be an unfair labor practice. The company is the one saying that arbitration will yield less benefits to employees.
Without knowing the details of their CBA I would not pass judgement. It did fail by just a handful of votes, 16 to be exact.
I will never begrudge any labor organization for looking out for the interests of their members. AAL did report record profits. And although I believe that investors should receive some consideration for their investment, let's face it, the people who do the work are valuable as well.
Today's travelers are nothing like they were when I was a kid and first started flying. My father insisted that we always dress with a jacket and tie. I don't always do that now but I sure as heck don't show up in shorts and a tank top wearing flip-flops. FAs deal with a lot of idiots and are the first line of order in the passenger cabin. Despite the comments I read on several news sites, they are skilled workers who do more than serve drinks and clean up messes.
As part of my job, I've been through passenger aircraft evacuation drills. All those little details they talk about during the briefing are VERY IMPORTANT and can make the difference between living and dying if you are ever in a crash. Frequent travelers often ignore the instructions and that could lead to disaster.
As I said before. This one is going down sooner than later.
Did you send this or just post here?
The F&B sector is difficult. Making a small fortune in the restaurant biz always includes starting with a large fortune. PBPB may have started with a worthy concept but their management is not capable of expanding the concept to other markets.
No. PBPB is a dead stock.
Took me awhile to find this article that I recalled reading a couple years ago.
http://www.businessinsider.com/we-may-need-labor-unions-after-all-2012-12
I don't mind owning stock in any company that treats employees fairly and equitably. After all, as the article states, happy employees make for a happy company and hopefully translates into profits. Nothing wrong with sharing those profits with the people who make it happen.
This article goes on to discuss why, in general, unions are good for economy as a whole. As the owner of an airline stock, I believe that the more disposable income in the pockets of workers, the more they will spend on travel. That's good for this sector and others as well.
Collective bargaining agreements, in fact, provide a certain amount of stability for the employees and therefore the company. Just my opinion. I don't mind that the employees of AAL are receiving fruits of their labor and yes, I know several employees of AAL including pilots, flight attendants, ramp personnel, and A&P technicians.
JetBlue had an emergency landing this morning in LA. The company PR is that the #2 (right) engine "blew." Not sure exactly what that means. Did it flame out? The headline reads, "Engine Exploded." Of course the engine did not explode as it is seen completely intact in the photos.
The passenger cabin filled with smoke. I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of the A320 or its variants but how does an engine failure fill the cabin with smoke? Perhaps somebody more familiar can explain.
Perhaps this is why our AA is down today. Not sure.
Oh my, this one has taken a dive since the last time I checked in.
AA dumps Orbitz. US Airways to follow.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2014/08/26/american-airlines-pulls-out-of-orbitz/14627423/
The good solid news is that this one is going to the dumpster.
The 5/6 offering, IMO, was pretty crappy. PPS wasn't doing great at that time but it was holding its own. Given the PPS history, the company had to know it would drop to around the offering price and languish there until real news like a patient treated successfully.
I'm not an MBA or a CEO or a CFO or anything like that so what do I know? LOL
Sure, if you want to lose money. MNGA is going nowhere folks. Don't believe the hype. This is a PnD for sure.
This article is complete and utter BS and only serves to perpetuate partisan politics. From my seats, GSE "reform" in various iterations, has been supported by members from both sides of the aisle in both chambers.
This fuel will not do what plasma does. It could possibly replace oxyacetylene. That's it. Even then, nobody will get rich selling magnegas to FDs. They don't go through a lot of cylinders.
Bandit, I appreciate your enthusiasm here. I really do. But with all of your posts, you are looking like a pumper. NVIV is not a PnD stock. They have a promising biotech product that has shown promise in animal trials now moving toward human trials.
Longs here are sitting and waiting. When I look at any of the hub forums and see the majority of posts from one person, I get spooked.
It's a process. Let it play out.
Nobody in particular. Just throwing it out there.
An informal poll, assuming there is a buyout coming in the next 6-12 months, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable offer?
Would there not have been a lockout period for the recent investors?
It was down nearly 3% today. Not sure that is a strong showing.
Disregard. I found the article. Thanks a lot NVIV. SMH
Disregard. I found the article. Thanks a lot NVIV. SMH
And what does this mean in layman's terms? Are they issuing more shares? Are these warrants? What is the PPS? WTF?
Haven't tried the JeffReserve directly against Makers, my preferred bourbon.
As for Goslings, keep in mind there is a WIDE array of rums. I'm not an expert on the spirit even though I've had my fill (and over fill) a few times. I would say the differences in rum are a close second behind those in single-malt scotches.
That being said, Goslings is not a sipper. At least not in my opinion. It requires some coercion from a proper mixer to release its inner beauty.
If you ever get to Tortola, BVI, try to get your hands on some Callwood/Arundel. It's cheap by the bottle there. To many it is undrinkable. To me, it's pretty darn good albeit VERY different on the palate than most commercially available products. Had an old GF who had 3 bottles in her garage. I tried one and they were gone in about about month. She said they had been there for three years and nobody would drink it.
I think you're correct. I would have expected this to easily go over $2 with this sort of news. Perhaps the market is still a little wary due to the history with NVIV.
Crap. Waiting on more funds to clear to add. Oh well. It will be fine and I guess I can buy a dip when some people bail out.
Just great. Now when the additional distributions occur, there will be a flood of inquiries here asking if they are long term or short term on these additional lollipops!
