Haven't tried the JeffReserve directly against Makers, my preferred bourbon.

As for Goslings, keep in mind there is a WIDE array of rums. I'm not an expert on the spirit even though I've had my fill (and over fill) a few times. I would say the differences in rum are a close second behind those in single-malt scotches.

That being said, Goslings is not a sipper. At least not in my opinion. It requires some coercion from a proper mixer to release its inner beauty.

If you ever get to Tortola, BVI, try to get your hands on some Callwood/Arundel. It's cheap by the bottle there. To many it is undrinkable. To me, it's pretty darn good albeit VERY different on the palate than most commercially available products. Had an old GF who had 3 bottles in her garage. I tried one and they were gone in about about month. She said they had been there for three years and nobody would drink it.
