RIP, My Friend...
A very Happy New Year to you too, Gary...and to all my friends on iHub.
Do you believe this, Mn?
Here in Texas we're all about catching illegals and/or drugs crossing our borders... LOL
Counterfeit space heaters seized at ND border
PORTAL, N.D. (AP) — Federal customs officers said they seized 575 space heaters at the North Dakota border that had bogus safety markings.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency says the heaters were in a container for rail shipment. They were worth about $143,000.
Portal port director Brent Beeter says the heaters were marked with counterfeit Underwriters Laboratories markings.
Underwriters Laboratories conducts safety tests on products, and they're not certified unless they meet established standards.
Beeter said Thursday the space heaters hadn't undergone UL testing.
The heaters were seized Dec. 4. The Portal entry station is about 100 miles northwest of Minot in northwestern North Dakota.
Sooooooooo this is where you hang out, Mn.
Walk Dear, Hope you're doing well. And I hope you have the very best Christmas ever and a most prosperous New Year.
Hi there Mn, you're right about all the new N.D. millionaires. Unfortunately I'm not one of them. Did not retain mineral rights, much to my regret, when we sold property there about 8 years ago. :(
It's not only oil that has made North Dakotans prosperous though as most farmers had bumper crops this year.
Read an article just today indicating Texas is third best in job recovery in the nation. Alaska was second and yes, N.D. was at the top of the list.
What do you think all those newcomers will do this winter though...especially if the temps hit 20 below or more? Those man camps will be empty in no time. LOL
A very Merry Christmas to all my friends!!
Hey Suetta... we lucked out Wednesday evening and got a quarter of an inch of rain! Oh, how welcome it was. Temps have cooled down too so life is a bit more bearable these days...
...EXCEPT for this stinking market!
I haven't looked at closing prices in three days and turned off CNBC completely. It's kinda fun playing ostrich. Figured it was better to hide my head in the sand rather than spend my days crying. Of course, I know the day is coming when I'll have to go job-hunting or go on the dole. LOL
Hola amigo... como estas?
Hey Churak... kiss my grits!
Oh yeah, almost forgot...
Happy Birthday, Susie!
Hey Tis!
Am doing well except am not liking this market (especially today).
I've missed you, my handsome friend. ;)
Gary, it's getting worse here. There's nothing that can describe how bad it is.
I was listening to the news a few minutes ago and they said even the mama squirrels were leaving their babies in their nests - deserting them, as they can't feed the poor things. I don't know what we're going to do. I try to help as do my neighbours...putting out buckets of water and feeding the wildlife and birds kitchen scraps. I buy the 40 lb sacks of oiled sunflower seeds which used to last at least 6 weeks but no more...it's every 2 weeks now.
I also thoroughly enjoyed The Little Munchkin (Merle Haggard). He's one of my favourite artists.... saw him in person in Shreveport a few years ago and what a show he put on!
Hope all is well with you, my friend. :)
I see you had the same prob I had, Walk (double post). Never fear, I'll remove it. :)
A real oldie, Big Guy! Haven't heard that one in years.
What a great selection of tunes! Thanks for posting them. :)
Damn! Busted again...
LOL Hiya OP, What's happening with you? Are you having the weather from Hell that we've been getting since early Spring?
LOL Well, dang...I wish they'd see fit to send me some rain!
Thanks for letting me know, Gary.
Awwwwwwww.... (blushing)!
You're the bestest, Walk!
Thank you, Walk. :)
Am happy to hear you're doing well.
Oh Sue, your post brings back great memories of the rib contest between Phil and arthritis65 a few years ago! Ducky and I were the judges. Of course we declared a tie as we weren't about to contribute further to the feud between them - a friendly feud, of course!
Art is gone now too. Can you just hear him, Phil and now Ron arguing about food up there? LOL
Gary, I am so saddened to hear about Ronaldo. I hadn't talked to him in quite awhile but I'll always have fond memories of him - feisty as he was.
He was truly generous too. I still have the Guy Fieri cookbook he sent in 2008 with the inscription "Merry Christmas Miss Santa Kitty."
Thanks for letting me know. My condolences to you, Walt and Ron's family.
Calvin And Hobbes will always be my favourite!
But you have little puppies that pee on 'puters.
Heard on the news that centipedes and scorpions were also moving in looking for water...if that happens to me I'll move to NewYawkCity, believe me.
Good luck with it, Sue.
Hope you got today's buy at the low.
Great idea, Sue...
"... make $100 a day and move on."
I'm still an advocate of buy and hold albeit it's kinda nerve-wracking sometimes...especially the last couple of weeks.
I kinda figured it was in that area.
Are you a train buff?
We keep watching disturbances in the Caribbean hoping the next storm heads for the Texas coast. It might be one of those cases where one should be careful what they wish for but we're desperate.
How's this market treating you, Sue? Keeps you on your toes, eh?
Saw the news this morning re Google and Motorola Solutions. I held Motorola for the longest time and when they spun off Motorola Holdings and Motorola Solutions I sold all of it months ago. Wish I woulda held now....sigh.
Story of my life, woulda-shoulda-coulda...
Good one, Walk. :)
Hope you're doing well, my friend.
Thanks, Nerachal...
I liked yours too. LOL
Am curious about your siggy picture. Where was it taken? Wherever it was I sure would like to be there right now. I live in Southwest Texas where it's hot and dry day after day after day...
