GTAT's revenues come from three primary areas: Silicon Furnaces for solar cell , Silicon reactors for making the raw silicon feed stock for PV cells and Sapphire growth furnaces. Any other sales are inconsequential by comparison.
If you go back and look at revenue by business unit...from their web site....you will see a major drop in silicon furnace and sapphire furnace sales as well as a drop in Silicon reactor sales.
The peaked at just under $1B in sales and have dropped every year since. The drop was primarily due to a poor economy and over buying by both the Chinese PV and Sapphire industry but it did have a huge affect on sales.
I would say that this downward trend would continue without some significant action and that, unfortunately was APPLE. They do have a lot of potential technology but the key question is how soon can it be commercialized and generate sales and cash flow.
If they are successful in getting out of CH 11 I do not believe that they will be able to move all of these initiatives forward.
The best outcome would be for a "White Knight" to buy them on the cheap and accelerate the commercialization activity.
