They had 50 +/- systems in Salem NH essentially dedicated to
developing sapphire to the Apple spec. They felt that they were close and so , apparently did Apple. I read some where that the first demonstration boule was a failure but they went ahead in any case.Product release schedules must have played a role in a premature agreement. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand granades.
