There are so many ways that so called "insider" information can be obtained that it is a wonder anyone ever gets prosecuted for it. For instance: court workers innocently talking shop at a lunch counter; process servers; witers & waitresses in cafes overhearing info; a taxi/limo driver; of course the old classic, some hot shot talking pillow talk to his hooker or mistress. LOL. I like the last scenario best.

Warming up those ankle bracelets may help me out. I have a rather large stake in a company (ISRE) that makes GPS ankle bracelets. It sure would be ironic if I made more off of CPTC from ankle bracelets worn by insiders than I do by owning their stock. BTW I haven't thrown in the towell yet on CPTC. I am going to be buying and selling hoping to add cash while it is in this transition. The next 4 months will be interesting. It still depends on IF we get major revenues coming in by September. Actually this lawsuit may be our salvation. JMHO.

I hope the price of gasoline goes to $4.00. Why? Because it is going to take a price like that to make alternative energy sources profitable. Looking back 30 yeats of more. . . everytime gas prices take a spike they stay high for a year then drop back to lower but still higher levels. Saudi oil is so cheap to produce and they have had so much of it that they could regulate the market. Anytime there was a serious chance that new alternative energy sources might give them some competition they just flooded the market with cheaper oil. Down go gas prices and investments in NEW energy sources stop. That tactic may not work in the future because China & India are growing so fast that the demand for oil will exceed the supply. When that happens (which I think it is now) gas prices go up & stay up but alternative energy sources will finally be developed. We may never see "cheap" energy again but at least we may see reliable and affordable energy. WHEN we can produce most of it in the USA>

I may have looked at Wellspring a couple years ago Elektro but I don't remember ever having owned any of their shares so I am fairly sure it wasn't me.

I suppose a way to work around the trapezoidal shape would be to alternate wires of a triangular shape with one point side in and the other flat side in. Now this information is in the "public domain" and it cannot be patented. LOL
Dennis
Something that might be delaying a deal with China. This is just me thinking out loud but here are a couple thoughts to ponder: 1. CPTC may have a license to use the trapezoidal shaped conductor but I am pretty sure they are not the assignee of the patent that covers that process. 2. That being the case maybe the company/person who controls the rights to that patent may not be allowing CPTC or the Chinese JV partner to use the trapezoidal wrap. 3. The composite core is a great idea but IF it cannot be wrapped with the trapezoidal shaped conductor a lot of the benefits of the ACCC wire are negated.
Have any of you who can call Carswell and talk to him asked about this?
You can all thank me for the move back towards $3.00. I sold a thousand shares early in the day at $2.61 thinking I might be able to add some more CPTC at a lower price. Ooooops wrong move this time LOL. I'll just have to buy into something that is moving up faster than CPTC. Anyone got any suggestions? Oh BTW Lentinman and Cws. . . there ain't noone on the planet that can eat more PIZZA than me, if you hold the pepperoni & anchovies. If you guys ride two wheelers maybe we can make the Kingman trip on the bikes. Make um think that they are being invaded by some bad assed CPTC shareholders.
Dennis
Willygoodshot. . . I am in Lincoln, Nebraska, about 280 miles from Kingman, Kansas. I had planned on a trip to the area last September but I was told there was no construction going on at that time. I am hoping to get a new motorcycle later this spring ( hopefully in May) and I will head South and ride through Kingman. I'll make sure I take my digital camera with me so I can post pictures on the Web. I hope CPTC is back up over the $6.00 mark by May so I can buy the bike I really want (a new Harley V-Rod) instead of a used Jap bike LOL. OH BTW do any of you need a good 1983 VT 750 Honda fixer upper or for parts? I rode it up until December when I parked it but it is going to start nickel & diming me to death so I need a new home for it. If interested drop me an E-mail at Gunluvver2@aol.com

IMO the reason that CPTC hasn't sold millions of dollars of product by now is that the electrical transmission industry as a whole has very little incentive to increase efficiency or profits. With such a large part of that industry being owned by PUBLIC utility companies or publically subsidized companies why should the managements of these companies invest millions of dollars in a NEW ( notice I didn't say novel) product.
The answer to increasing power demands in the past has been to build more generating capacity. That takes at least five years or more from planning to completion. Building new transmission lines takes every bit as long. When/if the ones who build new transmission lines realize CPTC can put money in their pockets by increasing the amount of delivered power then CPTC sales will skyrocket. Maybe reliability standards mandated in an energy bill will spur that investment. Unless we have another major blackout like 08/14/2003 this summer I think CPTC is dead in the water domestically for at least 6 months. China? Who knows?
Dennis
China has committed to host the Olympic games in 2008. They are going to be doing tremendous amounts of construction of new infrastructure in the areas where visitors to the Olympics will see. They do not want to lose FACE. I'm not familar with the geography of China and I have no idea what kind of distances are involved between Bejing and the Three Gorges Power projects. However I am sure that power transmission lines from that area to Bejing and the Olympic sites will be #1 on their priority list. With the short time frame the Chinese are facing IMO if they haven't cut a workable deal with CPTC by October of this year it ain't gonna happen. JMHO.
Dennis
MSGI. . . the alliance with General Cable is the biggest reason CPTC has credibility. The fact that General Cable has enough faith in the CPTC product to offer it alongside their others products is the BEST advertising there is for CPTC. I really think the news of the partnership with them is the only reason CPTC's share price isn't back to a buck. All my opinion though.
Dennis
Rattman. . . if we don't have news of sales by the first week of April we will see $2.50 to $3.00. For each week in April with no news deduct $.25. Just my opinion of course. I hope we see news before then of course but if we don't and some of my other stocks are still going up I MAY buy more CPTC at these bargain prices. If we don't have some kind of news by August forget it. . . it will be panic time then.
Dennis
PowerPole. . . when we both retire from the CPTC tenbagger we may end up as neighbors LOL. Lake Tenkiller has always been on my list of places I would consider building. I was in the trucking business myself for many years until I got off the road in 1989. From 74 to 82 I was leased to an OKC company,
H.J.Jeffries (no longer in business).
I had a boat I kept in OKC and when I made it in for a few days several of us would head for the Eastern Oklahoma lakes. When I had a craving for trout or doing some snorkeling in clear water Tenkiller was at the top of the list. It was a well kept secret at that time, probably because the water was so damn cold even in July. Another benefit of the cold water was no cottonmouths or Copperheads. At least I never saw any near the water there.
Dennis
MonkeyBiz. . . when you get the pictures send them to me at Gunluvver2@aol.com and include an address so I can send you the $20. I am going to the Riverboat Casino Saturday but I will stash an extra $20 in the mattress just in case I lose. Wish me luck,
Dennis
Monkeybiz. . . you can count on the $20 from me for the pictures. I hope you can get enough people from this board and the RB board to make it worth your trip. If you do decide to take the pictures a shot of the name of the trucking company on the sides of the door would come in handy. I was in the trucking business for many years and I still have a few contacts in the business. If you have a CB radio maybe you could get some feedback from some of the drivers coming and going also. I'm not sure what channel the truckers in the SoCal area use now but scanning the channels for a while should give you a clue. My guess is 19 or 15 but that is based on old information. If they are using flatbeds make sure to include tie down methods in the pictures also. Chances are if they do load them on flatbeds they will require tarping. You might be able to pick up a few extra dollars assisting a driver in slinging tarps also LOL. Let me tell you tarping a load by yourself is a P.I.T.A. but with two people in dry, nice weather it is a piece of cake. Most drivers will part with a ten spot or maybe even a $20 to have some help.
Let me know when/if you decide to go.
Dennis
OT: Does anyone live close enough to Irvine to spend a day there with a digital camera? If you do maybe you could make yourself some extra money. Here is how:
1. You will need a digital camera and the capability to send images via E-mail.
2. Spend a day during the week taking pictures of trucks (loaded & unloaded) entering and leaving the CPTC facility. You could do this from a public street and not be interfering with any operations.
3. Note the times of entry & exit
4. I would be willing to send the first one who can do this $20 upon receipt of the pictures and time lines etc. to me via E-mail.
I have a feeling there might be quite a few others on the board willing to part with a $20 bill also. Maybe with a bit of promotion someone could put together enough money from this to buy a few more shares.
If anyone is interested in my offer let me know on this board. Anyone willing to part with a $20 for the pictures might want to post too. A couple hundred bucks for snapping a few pictures wouldn't be a bad way to spend 8 hours would it?
I am not familar with the layout of the CPTC facility or if they share space and docks with any other company. Maybe some of the ones who have visited the plant could let us know.
Dennis
I am sure a lot of folks will get in a panic mode and start selling their shares of CPTC. It has been a long dry spell without any really substantial news other than the partnership with General Cable. The PR today was just a rehash of the PR from December (?) 2004. It sort of looks like a move of desperation by the IR department; throwing a bone to the lions LOL. I had expected the share price of CPTC to be over $10 or $12 by now. I may have been a bit optimistic in the time frame however. I still think it will reach $10 to $12 sometime during the year of 2005. I first bought in in August of 2003 for less than $.60 so I have a return of over 600% in less than two years. I know there are a lot of you old timers who have done even better.
The REASON I bought CPTC is still there: They have what I think may prove to be one of the BEST solutions to improving the electrical transmission grid in the USA and other countries around the world. From the reading I have done about the GRID system the whole system is F.U.B.A.R . There are no real financial incentives in place to replace the old conductors. What kind of depreciation allowances can the installers of new conductors expect? Do the people who invest the money for the new conductor get a payback for the new investment? The whole system of public & private entities and questions of jurisdictions in the GRID is a mess. That is probably part of the reason why domestic accpetance of the CPTC product is taking so long. Maybe some of the other countries around the World can lead the charge to a new and better grid.
One final thought: Right now is a golden buying opportunity IMO. Time will tell
Dennis
Do any of you know who owns the patent for the trapezoidal wire used to wrap around the CPTC composite core? In a search using "trapezoidal conductor" in the consignee & inventor fields on the USPTO web site three patents came up with that term in the abstract & title. AlCan was listed as the consignee and the inventor was the same on all three patents but I can't recall his name right now. IF CPTC isn't a licensed user for the "trapezoidal" wrapping the Chinese JV will have to have a license to use that particular technology. THAT may be one reason for the delay in news of a Chinese deal. I'm just speculating because I don't know. Maybe that is a question someone could pose for Mr. Carswell: Who owns the rights on that patent and is CPTC a licensee?
Dennis
PowerPole. . . it looks like Ebert has a good product and probably will be a bigger player in that specific market than CPTC will be. However in California CPTC will have the advantage of lower shipping costs unless Ebert has a factory closer than Virginia. With a mandate by law in California to replace all the old creosote poles by 2008 they will be the biggest market for poles in the next few years. I think this particular pie is big enough to let several companies have a significant slice.
IMO in both the composite wire and poles one of the worst things that could happen to CPTC is for a competitor using the composite name in their product to have a catastrophic failure and the negative publicity from that would be associated with CPTC. That is one reason that even though 3M is a competitor I don't want to see any horrible things happen to any customer that uses their product. A drastic failure of any composite product in the industry would be a bad thing for all involved.
Dennis
Thanks for the link to that site Echarter. I plan on following up more of the links on it this weekend. I don't have any shares in any gold mining related companies currently but I have been looking at one Savoy Resources (SVYR) that is making a China play in oil, gold and other minerals. One stock I do have a stake in is SQNC ( Sequoia Interests). Right now they are a two man startup company with a product, DiamondFlo, that may be key to oil recovery efforts in depleted wells and the Canadian Tar Sands. I will post a link to their website later this weekend.
Dennis
Great job SecureResources. . . information like this is just what I was hoping we could all share on this board. I am going to put NCS on my watch list and see how it does. Keep us posted on things you see on your end.
I was in the flatbed business myself from 1974 to 1982, leased to a company that no longer exists( H.J.Jeffries out of OKC). I enjoyed it and met a lot of very interesting people. I drove vans and reefers for another seven years for three different companies but after being an O/O working for the other guy just didn't cut it. The nicest thing about the flatbed business IMO was no fingerprint loads.
Dennis
Secureresources. . . good to see you here. I was just wondering what kind of operation you have. Are you a company driver or an O/O? What kind of equipment ( flatbed, dry van, reefer or a specialized trailer).
What I wanted to do when I started this board is to get truckers together with some folks who are interested in investing in stocks to share information about various companies that might be good investments. I drove from 1974 to 1989 before leaving the road for a stay at home job. While I was driving I was always making notes about different companies that I hauled into and out of. I made some fairly good investments from information I gathered this way. You drivers have access to companies that an investor like I am now could only dream about. I might be able to get a lot of information about a company from public filings etc. but a driver can talk to the actual employees of a company and see just how that company is taking care of business. If we can get 40 or 50 OTR drivers coming in here and posting their impressions about how different companies are taking care of business maybe we can all help each other make some money. If we can keep it civil in here and share information we can all learn something from each other. Pass the link to this board on to other truckers that you respect please. I for one would like to hear from them.
GLTA,
Dennis
Pontius. . . I am sure there are lots of truckers that invest in penny stocks and the market also. With the advent of laptop computers and wireless connections more drivers are using computers all the time. I know of a few.
Dennis
Looks like the outfit that provides that service might be a great investment. What symbol does IT trade under? LOL
Dennis
I don't know what your tastes in literature are CTCRK but I am just about done with one by Tom Wolfe "I AM CHARLOTTE SIMMONS".For anyone who is saving money to send kids to College you owe it to yourself to read this book. What an eye opener. LOL.
Dennis
It was a cold miserable day here in my corner of Nebraska today. . . enough ice to make even standing up outside treacherous and over a foot of snow forecast in the next two days. Then on top of all that CPTC continued its' New Years tumble! Oh well maybe I can buy back some more at these sub $5 prices. Anyone who has followed this stock for over a year knows that this is just a temporary dip. Just a few weeks ago CPTC was selling for around $1.50. Since that time I can only recall one PR (the Austin project). In those few weeks millions of new investors bought in at prices from $1.50 to as high as $6.90. I am sure a lot of the really long holders took profits at these higher share prices (I did it myself with 2850 shares). The ones that are really going to get burned are those that sold at a loss in the past two days. A month or two from now $6.00 will look like a heckuva bargain.
I lucked out so far on the 2850 shares I sold at $5.80 by buying into another stock that I had been looking at for several weeks. It has been going up nicely since 2005 and if the spread between it and CPTC continues I may buy back some of the CPTC at these lower prices. Even though I am a bit disappointed in CPTC right now I still think it is going to be the best performing stock in my portfolio during 2005.
Just my $.02,
Dennis
I haven't totally given up on RagingBull but I decided two boards are better than one so I signed up here also. Two boards = twice the information right?
I see a steady decline until significant news is announced. That is fine with me because I am sitting on some money and can buy in whan it starts looking like a bottom. A week from today with no news will probably see share prices under $5. . . anything under that is a gift IMHO.
Dennis
