Of course that's the case. What's the % of children born to women UNDER 35? LOL! Since we know that it does occur to women under 35, statistically the numbers will show without doubt that most DS cases are in that group of women. The question was who has the highest risk of DS though.
Man, I know you're smarter than that. That's like Obama saying McCain's tax cuts leave out 100 million people. Of course that's the case. Those are the people that don't actually pay taxes.
You have to look at the numbers with a sharp mind or the author is going to achieve their goal whether that goal is wanting the reader to be educated or ignorant.
Here ya go:
And from the blog's source, it clearly shows that the risk increases with age:
http://www.mothers35plus.co.uk/down.htm
Scroll down a bit to the age table. It's ridiculous.
BTW, got a PM from a mod on this so I won't post another word on this charge. Just offering some facts on Downs Syndrome here.
How much tax payer money did Obama cut?
"I say this: Palin looks good to give me a blow anyday."
Never mind. Considering the source here. Thanks.
The folks the dailykos relates to are not smart enough to know that downs syndrom has a higher risk in women over 35. They will deliberately ignore that fact once they find out.
Folks need to go through some of this:
http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/a_three_sections_with_teasers/votes.htm
After you do, come back and let us know how diabolicly McCain voted "pro-Bush". I'll bet, outside of confirming apppointments, you can't find a vote McCain did that supports a GW proposal. Make sure you check Obama's vote against your smoking gun McCain votes. LOL!
Good luck!
So you're saying she didn't do anything that Alaska says she did? LOL! OOOOOK.
You might be surprised, or not, at how many homes in New Orleans were just left to rot. Many people took the insurance money and left. I couldn't begin to estimate how many homes are still abandoned there with no plans for rebuilding.
Rest assured, there aren't people from the outside trying to buy into the city.
It's sad regarding the history but to your point, who the hell would purposely live somewhere that is sinking and requires man made devices to keep the place dry?

Man, she's accomplished more in two years as governor than Obama has in his short membership in the senate:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin
She created a state surplus, was responsible for giving folks living in the state energy rebate checks FROM NATURAL RESOURCE REVENUE AND NOT TAXES, cut spending of over 300 pork projects, and cleaned up corruptin in her own party.
People who say Palin means McCain can't attack Obama's lack of experience have not done any research. Democrats need a stupid constituency to win in November.
What did Obama do again? LOL!
You're absolutely right and hit the nail right on the head:
"but i think they (dems) respect the seperation of church and state more.. "
But you know the ACLU will handle that nonsense on christian issues. However, I haven't seen them go after islamic issues yet. For example, this:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2007-07-25-muslim-special-treatment-from-schools_N.htm
"Barry Lynn, of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, says however that the law is murky on these expressions of faith. And the American Civil Liberties Union says overt religious symbols like crucifixes are not legal, but whether Muslim foot baths and prayer rugs fall into that category is not clear.
"That's a difficult one, and it's right on the edge," says Jeremy Gunn, director of the ACLU program on freedom of religion and belief in Washington, D.C."
I have the impression, as many others do, that it's now politically correct to attack any faith but Islam. When the ACLU says that a Muslim's special concessions for prayer is "murky" yet a "crucifix" is not legal in a public school, I'm scared.
I know that if Billy Graham himself were to become President, christianity will NOT be forced on anyone. If Obama were to become President, I'm not so sure that anyone would fight Islamic influence being pushed in the U.S. Apparently, not even the ACLU will fight islamic influence in the public sectors and that scares me.
I didn't think I was being secretive about who I support. I think Obama supporters are simply louder because they're excited, thus no question who they support.
A lot of folks here will be voting for McCain that bash Obama and McCain. It's easier to be the contrarian than commit to what you're going to do when you're ready to vote.
I voted for Bush twice. I really liked Bush the first go around. I'll be the first to say I really DON'T like Bush this time around and have buyer's remorse. Kerry would have been better in hindsight. In fact, Biden recommended McCain as Kerry's running mate. Contrary to what many Democrats think, McCain is not McSame. It's a simple search to see how much McCain was against Bush's policies. If you don't believe it, then explain Biden's endorsement of McCain as Kerry's running mate against Bush? His voting in the Senate is NOTHING unique to him in support of Bush. The way I understand it, votes in the Senate are independent of what Bush wants, however, Bush may or may not sign whatever hits his desk.
Yup. That's what I believe.
Oooops. The wife just got home from the in-laws. Gots to go. LOL!
I support McCain. There, I said it. I'm out of the closet. LOL! In fact, it's not "lack of experience" as much as someone not bought and paid for by special interests (Sarah Palin, that is).
I'd still like to know more about that 58k in disability pension though. That does piss me off but not enough to put a Muslim in charge of this country.
More likely, he was looking at index cards on the podium. LOL!
LOL! Nagin knows where the responsibility should have been placed with Katrina. He successfully redirected the blame at the federal government. He knows he can't do that again. Though, I wonder if he or the governor (forgot her name) have already asked for the fed to be on stand by.
My Uncle and cousins made the decision to leave yesterday. Apparently, the traffic started 4 days ago.
Talk about "lessons learned."

Mayor Nagin, YOU do understand that evacuations are HIGHLY recommended for your city now, right? YOU do understand that you need to request federal assistance and understand the process, correct? This is act 2 coming up. The first one, you and the governor failed and blamed Bush. We'll never change anyone's mind about that. Now that act 2 is on it's way, if you fail again, I fully expect that President Bush will be left out of the blame game this next go around.
This should be interesting and Kanye is gearing up his speech.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/gustav_gulf_coast
This article makes me think that the Obama supporting author is desperate:
1. He’s desperate. Let’s stop pretending this race is as close as national polling suggests.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/12997
Otherwise, why'd he write it? LOL! Simple, that argument swings both ways, thus it's flawed.
Polls don't mean very much, BTW.
Good luck!
I wonder how many here have posted about wanting someone NOT owned by lobbyists, corporations, or oweing any favors to political allies as President.
Can you say, "photoshop"? LOL! I'm just glad McCain picking Sarah as his running mate is bringing so much love over to his camp from the democratic camp. It was a good choice.
Why would they? Just to be nice? LOL!
No company is going to touch this POS shell. Way too dirty. Rufus needs to leave and go far, far away before you could even start cleaning it up.
The only "religious" hot button I've seen of her is being pro-life. Of course, that's not the religious right's monopoly.
People who think roe v. wade will ever be over turned need to get a grip. It ain't happening. Today's pro-life stance = interested in promoting pro-life alternatives to abortion. It is no longer banning the procedure itself. Abortion is here to stay.
Apparently not this winter if the Farmer's almanac is correct. LOL!
I do believe in less polution and cleaner energy though. That only makes sense. It's just silly to see some of the more fanatical use it as political discourse and place blame for global warming on whoever doesn't want to offer the most incentives for alternative NRG R&D.
Doubt that. Global warmers speak only of CO2 emissions and green house gases.
I've yet to hear of one conceeding to natural earth and/or sun cycles.
I'm not one for definitive blanket statements but again, the Al Gore types never conceed to natural science. Man must have control over the earth's temp, right?
LOL! Someone doesn't believe in global warming yet believes in creationism is a danger to our earth? How is that?
How can people believe man has any bearing on sun cycles or earth temperatures? If you believe that, explain the Ice Age and how it warmed up without the combustion engine?
Good luck!
If you are referring to my opinion that Democrats severely overestimate the idea that mainstream America = support for the Pelosi types, then yes. I assume that's what you meant.
Obama will conceed early on election day. Regardless of VP debates. It's not the composure of the debates. It's the message.
I just think it's funny that people call McCain "McSame" when it's clearly documented that he was a thorn in Bush's side most of Bush's Presidential career. Just more propaganda speech hoping it sticks.
2000 primaries weren't THAT long ago. LOL!
I can't wait to see a Palin/Biden debate.
Honestly, there's probably NO ONE that could beat Biden in a debate. I'm interested in seeing how Palin holds up.
Did you know that Biden recommended McCain to be the VP for John Kerry? Kerry would have won if that were the case. Easily.
LOL! So did my dad. I was 20 that year and honestly don't remember if I voted or not. I do remember my dad talking about Ross though.
If Ross had won, you'd be speaking to Americans for help with your PC's today. The down side, your PC's would cost $10 more per unit.
Sick, isn't it? That we traded so many jobs for insignificant savings.
A company I worked for outsourced the help desk to India. 20 jobs gone. This was a multi-Billion dollar company that saved less than 500k per year outsourcing those jobs.
Geeze. For a group so upset about "big oil", you'd think that someone who won revenue from "big oil" for her state would make you feel a bit warmer.
Oops. I forgot we are in binary partisian politics land.
Carry on. LOL!
Admiral Stockdale said that phrase in a philosophical sense.
Admiral Stockdale seemed out of his league in the debate with the major party vice presidential candidates, Dan Quayle and Al Gore. He startled the audience and those watching on television with his opening remarks: "Who am I? Why am I here?"
While the statement transformed him into the butt of jokes from late-night comedians, he later wrote in The World & I magazine that he had chosen his words deliberately to showcase his basic view of himself that "I am a philosopher."
In the article, Admiral Stockdale said he drew his inspiration from the writings of Epictetus, a former Roman slave who was an adherent to the teachings of the Stoics. "Stoics belittle physical harm, but this is not braggadocio," Admiral Stockdale wrote. "They are speaking of it in comparison to the devastating agony of shame they fancied good men generating when they knew in their hearts that they had failed to do their duty vis-à-vis their fellow men or God."
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/06/politics/06stockdale.html?ex=1278302400&en=b4e623b4d2f9c48c&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss
I would conceed that his point did not come across though. The man had some age on him at that point and was not able to use expression as well as other speakers.
Even the puff dragon is being affected by high gas prices. Anyone feel sorry for him? Me neither. LOL!
I do NOT recommend visiting the source site though. Non-offensive pop ups and auto playing news video. No viruses but just more intrusive than I like.
http://www.accesshollywood.com/article/11020/gas-prices-ground-diddys-private-jet/
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: August 27, 2008 13:51 PM
NEW YORK, New York --
Even Diddy’s complaining about high prices at the pump. The rap mogul took to his YouTube video blog to rant about the rising cost of gas, which he says has grounded his private jet.
“Even your boy is being affected by gas prices!” Sean “Diddy” Combs said in the video, which was filmed at an airline gate as he entered a plane. “As you know, I do own my own jet and I have been having flying back and forth to L.A. pursuing my acting career. Now, if I’m flying back and forth like twice in a month, that’s like $200,000 or $250,000 round trip. I’m back on American Airlines right now. OK? Your boy Diddy right now is on American Airlines.”
The aspiring Hollywood star last acted in the TV movie “A Raisin in the Sun,” a performance the Wall Street Journal called “sterling.”
In order to help the New York-based impresario keep up his presence in Hollywood, Diddy also begged his “Saudi Arabian brothers and sisters” to send him some oil for his jet before saying that him flying commercial proved that gas prices were too high.
“Look I’m at the gate right now,” he said. “We need to do something about, so tell whoever the next president is that we need to bring gas back down.”
I read that she may be on the short list only a week ago or less.
Check this out though. Historically, governors have beaten out Washington types for the top job. Now you have two Sentors running against each other. One has a Senator VP pick and the other a Governor VP pick.
Man, the RNC knows how to maneuver through the politics, eh? LOL!
Forget the issues on the table. My guess is that McCain picking a Governor for the VP job increases his likelihood of winning significantly. I've never really entertained the idea that Obama might win anyway. EXTREME long shot regardless of what the polls show, IMO.
Something I've been wanting to see happen since I started working and paying into unemployment:
Focus on jobs, gas prices
In his Brooklyn speech, McCain also proposed a revamp of unemployment benefits. Rather than have a fixed amount of time during which workers can collect unemployment benefits - currently up to 26 weeks - McCain recommended that the taxes workers pay into the unemployment insurance system be set aside in their own account "a buffer ... against lost earnings."
http://money.cnn.com/2008/04/10/news/economy/mccain_econ_plan/index.htm?postversion=2008041012
Giving the private individual more control over their own financial needs. Going further, if it is in a "private account" as stated and you don't need it, you can use it as a supplement for retirement.
Who are those 100 million Americans that Obama claims McCain is not offering any tax relief to?
All you have to do is noodle out who actually pays taxes and then you find out that 100 million that Obama is referring to pay little to no taxes.
So, how in the hell is anyone going to provide tax relief to people who don't even pay taxes? Relief from what? Unless you're talking about just giving them cash from the registry.
Remember Michael Alexander? The guy everyone on the "secret board" hates? The guy Rufus calls a crook? This is what he posted on HSM:
Page Perry was hired to represent the company and took compensation from me personally to represent the company... $7,500. http://www.pageperry.com/
Alana Black knows this... Jim Nofi and Steve Parker if they deny it, have them return the money.
Note, I have not verified nor do I plan to. Just passing the info.
LOL! I found this yesterday:
Check this out. A 1,000 lb woman charged in the beating death of a 2 year old nephew.
http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/wireStory?id=5662747
Now, the court sez: "She is required to wear a global-positioning tracker until her trial."
Then someone commenting on the story had this to say:
Yes, why the GPS device? Isn't she visible from space?

Based on the article, John himself disclosed it. There was no supporting evidence that I saw.
What makes me sick is that ordinary Americans, let alone veterans, would be lucky to get $1,000 per month.
I'd like to know how the hell he managed that much in annual. And I think it said it is NON-TAXABLE.
That would be the equivalent of someone earning in the mid 70's depending on taxes, etc. There's a lot of families out there with real disabilities that could benefit from that as their ONLY source of income.
Is McCain's "disability pension" the same as "VA Disability Compensation Rates?"
If so, how in the hell is he getting over 50k in benefits when the max is $3,000 per month?
http://articles.latimes.com/2008/apr/22/nation/na-pension22
http://www.military.com/benefits/veteran-benefits/va-compensation-tables
I know arizona brought this up several times and today I decided to investigate. I thought it'd be a pretty simple explaination. It's not. Here is what a Disability Pension is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disability_pension
A disability pension is a form of pension given to those people who are permanently or temporarily unable to work due to a disability.
In either form, it is dispicable that John McCain is A) taking the benefit and B) it is as much as it is.
A) He shouldn't be taking the benefit because he IS working.
B) It is suplemental income. If you earn more than X, you are not elgible.
Note - This will not make a hill of beans difference in the election though. It would be interesting if Obama directly attacked the issue though.
How much do senior citizens with Alzheimers get per year? What about a 70 year old with cancer being taken care of by their adult children? Do THEY get 58k per year to help with the bills?

Democrats need a much bigger lead than that. LOL! Historically, Democrats are more popular in polls. Interestingly enough, Democratic ID's have been dropping since the 70's and Republican's increasing. But you can't trust the polls anyway:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2006/10/the_story_behind_the_polls.html
"October 30, 2006
The Story Behind the Polls
By Michael Barone
What's with the polls?
In 2004, the electorate that went to the polls or voted absentee was, according to the adjusted NEP exit poll, 37 percent Democratic and 37 percent Republican. In party identification, it was the most Republican electorate since George Gallup conducted his first random sample poll in October 1935.
But most recent national polls show Democrats with an advantage in party identification in the vicinity of 5 percent to 12 percent. Party identification usually changes slowly. Historically, voters have switched from candidates of one party to candidates of the other more readily than they have changed their party identification.
Over time, big changes in party ID can and do occur. When I started in the polling business, in 1974, national party identification was almost 50 percent Democratic and not much more than 25 percent Republican.
Since then, Democratic party ID has fallen, particularly in the South, where many voters who considered themselves Democrats found themselves voting Republican for president and, increasingly in the 1980s and 1990s, for other offices, as well."
First - Conventions will change very few minds regardless of weather or localized disaster.
Second - Why would this be the case: "the last thing McCain needs is a reminder of Katrina."
Third - If you believe my "Second" point has to do with a black eye against Bush, republicans in general or McCain, you are also assuming that the folks blaming Bush for a late reaction on Katrina otherwise would be voting for McCain which isn't the case. Not even close.
No one seems to be able to answer this question though. What voting block do people think Obama will pick up over and above what democrats would win anyway? LOL!
McCain will pick up votes from democrats that would have voted for any democrat that wasn't a Muslim. Muslims are too fanatical, stereotypically, as a religion and we don't see enough "peaceful" Muslim leaders denouncing the violence committed by Islamic terrorists.
Won't be too long after the DNC that centrist democrats will start having buyer's remorse. It won't be posted here but they will have it once the sparkle of empty speeches wear off.
McCain is pretty much what conservatives expect to get.

Without getting into the tech's of an IBM chart, a few more bucks north and puts will be in order, IMO. I don't think I'd open puts on IBM under $128. Keep watch. I know it doesn't move fast enough for some of you guys but it's pretty predictable and safe.
Good luck!
Hurricane headed towards New Orleans again. Spoke to my uncle and cousin whom live there now. They aren't leaving yet but will make the decision in the next day or so.
You have to know that Mayor Nagin is sweating bullets and GW is smiling. Why? Because Nagin made it a Federal government/GW problem to cover his own short comings with Katrina. He knows he can't do that again and that he, as the local authority, is responsible for planning for a disaster. He should do better now that he knows it might be better to ask for federal help sooner rather than later. He can also forget about race being thrown into the mix this time as well. Kanye will be disappointed.
LOL! I hate it for New Orleans. But the political aspect if the hurricane hits is going to be hilarious.
Take away their money. They can use the Internet and Youtube to campaign. LOL! That's where everyone get's their research anyway. Hehehe
