is... wishing Americans would wake up before it is too late.

(yawn) Yeah, I guess .... if one likes tall blondes with big tatas ...
LOL!
Sounds reasonable!
Have a good one!
Yep, that's what I've been told by several dog handlers ... keeps their interest up, and their 'morale' up ..... plus they get treats when they do good!
Well, that is always an option!
And it probably didn't phase the security officers either! LOL
Germany is an interesting place. No hang ups about alcohol, few about sex .. and their society isn't going to hell. Their economy maybe, but not society as a whole.
Good food, good beer, good times!
There you go!
In the old days, a lot of the officers just made you get out of your car and come back and sit in theirs anyway ..... Especially if it was cold or rainy! LOL
Yeah, I imagine that 'third degree' ws all just part of their 'screening' of passengers. They get lots of training in 'deception detection' and then put that to use, versus the scanners and pat down searches.... Seems to work for them!
I hear ya! And in Frankfurt, Germany they have a canine officer walking around through the airport, with the dog, to check for explosives, and I imagine drugs. Never saw the dog alert on anyone, but I imagine it would ruin you day!
Here .... people are so stupid ....... they'll pay to go to a movie full of shooting violence, etc, or watch TV shows with violence and guns, but then when they get out in public they act totally opposite, as if they have never seen a firearm before.
Their only idea of firearms is watching the Hollywood shooting scenes in movies an TV shows. That, coupled with the constant barrage of misinformation from the "antis", creates an air of "evil" around firearms ... which of course, is only believed by the firearm-illiterate portion of the populace.
Yep, if an officer were to get out of the car and walk up with a shotgun cradled in his left arm ..... people would be complaining right and left, and the officer would most likely be reprimanded (at best) for his or her inappropriate conduct. But then when an officer is shot ..... those same ones who compained hardly blink an eye.
No polls needed ....
Just listen for a change.
The only problem with shooting them in the balls ... most of the SOBs who would jump on a cop ... don't have any!
I like the non-lethal stuff too, but the problem there is ... it takes time to get that shotgun from the locked rack in the car, and if you don't have it immediately at hand for a rapidly deteriorating, you won't have time to run back to the car and get it after things start going downhill.
They work great for situations where one has time to get them out ahead of time and prepare.
Sorry, I was trying to be sarcastic, but guess I was just not there yet! LOL
No, the SOB is a two faced butthole.
Hope that clears it up!
It's just Joe. The same one who got a round of some pretty loud 'Booing' in Pennsylvania a few days ago.
Ol' foot-in-mouth Joe.
For training, qualification, practice and duty use of the armed personnel in some 27 different Fedeal agencies, over a five year period.
I thought that was a crazy amount, too, but the slowed down, checked a few things out, and I now believe that is just "business as usual".
I certainly believe we have more important things than this order, to be worried about.
He's not actually experiencing it - it's all filtered through the media before he gets it.
Sometimes, like anyone else, they get complacent. Also, there are 'good' cops and then there are 'cops', as in any other profession.
I spent a lot of time on the streets with the cops, working 19 years as a Probation officer. We stopped a lot of cars, and we went in a lot of 'nasty' placs and brought out a lot of 'nasty' people. Sometimes, in spite of the best laid plans, that fellow named Murphy makes an appearance and things just don't work out as planned. I learned quickly that surprise works wonders, and stopping 'business' to talk to any one is risky.
But stopping cars on a highway at 0200 in the morning - well there is no 'surprise', and that lone officer can not afford to even hint at being afraid or unsure of anything. That's a sure way to get taken advantage of. Sometimes though the attitude and the circumstances don't work like they are 'supposed' to, and a careless moment results in tragedy. Sometimes, they can do everything 'by the book', and still end up on the short end. It just goes to show that a lot of times we don't appreciate our law enforcement as we should, considering the job they have to do. And, the truth is, for every one of those 'tragic' incidents, hundreds or thousands more were successfully completed with no tragic ending.
It's just a mad, mad world.
Oh yes, Shogun was a great read. That was another one I 'couldn't put down'. At the end of the two volumes, I found myself wanting more .... guess that's one good measure of a book. If you can find Whirlwind, I think you'll like it too!
Good luck with the car and all. Stay away from dogs, and as far as the road rage .. don't know much to suggest. That's all on someone else! LOL
Be safe, and just keep a lookout for those calm seas and fair winds. They're just around the corner, I am sure!
Oh yes, some very good reading ...
If you haven't read it, let me recommend "Whirlwind" by James Clavell ... Based on the Iranian revolution. Long read, but I found it very, very interesting.
Be safe.
There's something to be said for that ..
I'm hoping, though, the memories of all the painful Obama connected stunts will be fresh in everyone's memory, come November.
Um .. Don't know, but I'm just guessing some .40 cal would do the trick! LOL
Here's a 'kinda/sorta' link to the same information, but not the exact same wording. the event is verified true, by Snopes, and by various 'outraged' liberal and activist blog sites.

Yeah, after I thought about it a while .. and all the agencies they order for ... I am not at all sure that is excessive.
Yes sir - I surely hope so! LOL
I'm gonna crap out on ya. It is this old man's bedtime. We're a couple of hours ahead of you!
Have a great one. Enjoyed the conversation!
Anticipation ... the best part!
Edit: Fired that one off too quickly.
Of all, I think I like Honduran cigars the best. There are so many Honduran cigars that are just absolutely great. Don Tomas sungrowns, which you can find at about any good cigar store here in the US, are a great cigar, IMO. Medium strength and very good flavors. But there are so many more too.
I hear ya! They make a lot of good smokes down there, but many are very 'full bodied'. Some will flat kick butt!
The Joya de Nicaragua Antano .... well, the first one I tried literally made me weak in the knees! LOL
But was very smooth to be so strong. Someone knew what they were doing when they come up with that blend.
Can't remember .. did you bring back any of the cigars?
Well, a guy has to do what a guy has to do!
And you know what they say. We can't pick our relatives, but we can pick our friends.
A good friend is invaluable.
Glad you guys hit it off ... I bet the trip was a real kick!
Just wish you'd gotten the bottle of rum back with you! LOL
That ain't no joke ... well, that and the chow .... LOL
I understand completely. I've never met the guy, but pretty much knew that already. I would do the same thing, if the opportuity presented and I could get away. And I'm bettin' you had one bang up good time there too!
You read a lot of W.E.B. Griffin's stuff"
The LTs, The Cpts. The Majs, etc? Really enjoyed that series ...
Good ... someone needs to!
What, did you hear Andy and I talking about you over on the other board? LOL
which ........... are probably gonna just get worse, it seems ........
Indeed ... I got 'volunteered' for our company team, first, by my 1SG. "Be in my office at 1300 with your pistol belt and canteen".
Me: Yes Top!
1SG: Congratulations, you're on the company pistol team. You'll have practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 1400 until 1600 hours. The truck will pick you up here on Tuesday and Thursday at 1330 hours and bring you back afterward. Range personnel will issue your ammo, and open the range for you. Any questions?
Me: One Top.
1SG: Yes ...............????
Me: What if I never fired a pistol?
1SG: Don't worry about it. Someone there will show you!
They did. We won battalion and brigade, and at division they disqualified us because ... none of us were Officially Army qualified to fire a pistol. Damn rules! LOL
Yeah, I figured as much. Totally different than my experiences in Africa. I bet there are even hamburger joints there ... couldn't get one in the Congo. A french guy, though, had a great pizzaria. Old wood fired, brick ovens - best pizza I ever had ...
Sea food was about the best priced thing we could get there, both in the Congo and in Algeria. I found nothing wrong with lobster tails or fresh sole. Shark steaks were good too.
A decent dinner out in a medium reestaurant ... about $50 - 65 per person. In a nice restaurant - $100 + per.
Not counting the wine.
Sounds like you have it much better there though. I can understand why you like it so much. Good living at a reasonable price! What's not to like?
Walknmannv - I absolutely love your 'war stories'. That is so familiar - "Yesterday I couldn't spell instuctor, and today I are one"! Yep, know the feeling ... but in your case you got exposed to something that has served you well.
Those ol' 1911's are so much fun to shoot. I got ot put a few rounds through some of them too, on the company and battalion pistol teams. The pistols would make noise like a rattle if you shook 'em good, side to side, but they'd lay 'em down range fairly accurately.
Hope you are well.
GP
Yep, I figured that, just because of the better relations Nicaragua has, internationally, and most liek a pretty good population of ex-pats ... plus, I imagine one can pretty well find anything you need down there as far as consumer goods.
If I had to go to a Dr in Africa, I went either to a French military doctor, or a Russian doctor in country. There was a good, older Belgian doctor, US educated, over in Kinshasa across the river. Talk about a fun time, I found myself trying to explain my symptoms in French to a Russian doctor whose french was no better than mine. Finally his nurse, very amused with we two chattering, stopped us and in near perfect English, said "I can translate for you sir if you wish".
I ended up getting the standard Russian treatment - a shot in the buttocks! But, hey, it helped! LOL
That is nasty stuff.
I had one light case of malaria and my wife twice - once pretty bad. We all took the so-called preventative .. but it only worked part of the time. Locals died with malaria regularly. We literally shipped a case of "OFF" with us when we went, and had to get more while out of country on leave.
They still were plagued by polio over there, occasionally. I know there were times the hospitals didn't have any meds ... not even aspirin .... locals higher up in the chain of logistics stole them, and sold them on the black market. I was able to arrange for a donation from the US Military of several cases of aspirin and other basic medical supplies for the military hospital by my house.
It was a mess, as far as medical care. I know things are much better down there.
I hear you. If they're anything like the jungles in africa, the roads can become overgrown in a matter of just a few days ...
Do you have a lot of 'gheko' lizards down there? We had them everywhere, even in the house, in Africa. they ate mosquitos though so I never bothered one, and they never bothered me!
We slept under mosquito nets. Is malaria pretty common down there?
So ... you're saying that you don't make the trip every day! LOL
looks great .. a good place to 'disappear' for a while ....
