is... wishing Americans would wake up before it is too late.

Seventy-two killed resisting gun confiscation in Boston!
Boston – National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.
Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.
Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.
The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.
Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.
One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.”
Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans.
During a tense standoff in the Lexington town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists.
Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange.
Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces over matched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat.
Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops.
Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.
And this fellow Americans, is how the American Revolution began, April 20, 1775.
On July 4th, 1776 these same extremists signed the Declaration of Independence, pledging to each other and their countrymen their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. Many of them lost everything, including their families and their lives over the course of the next few years.
Lest we forget…

They will probably do as they want, no matter what, but you can make yourself count.
Also, if you ever buy from Cheaper than Dirt ... check this crap out:

You might consider this before you buy anything else from these gougers ...
Whoa! My experience with the Ancient Warrior is it has a 'left jab' somewhat akin to Mike Tyson! LOL
Great taste, just be aware they hit back!
Enjoy the smokes and Florida. Sounds like a great place to be right now with the rainy, dismal last few days we've had around here.
Oh yes .. there is just too much of this 'searching' going on these days, and folks need to be schooled that they can say no ... Many will submit because they don't think they have anything to hide, and many because they believe that refusing will make the police think they are hiding something. Fortunately, there's still that pesky old constitution standing in the way!
They have to investigate complaints ... no matter how far fetched. If they didn't and something really was wrong ... then they'd really be in hot water.
This one didn't handle the sitution very well, it seems. But then, that's a problem with a lot of government workers, and even privte sector workers.
For all you mean old AR-15 owners ... ( ) here's a link to a study done on Brass cased ammo vs. steel cased.
http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/#dirtiest
Pretty good reading, actually.
I did read that it was given to him about two or three days after the paperwork was done, after the wait period was over.
Yes .. also ironic because she was shot with a handgun .. not an AR-15. So, now he's got a hard on for AR-s .. This guy is nothing but an opportunist, and I believe is using her tragedy for his benefit, and we will be seeing him run for some office in 2014 .. Is her old seat opening again then? I think so .. great way to get some free campaign publicity ...
Yes, my question though is .. if he buys it with the (premeditated, it appears) intent to transfer it to another, is he actually buying it for himself? That's the basic question on the transfer form. Unless he was buying it with the intent to transfer it as a legitimate gift then he would apparently be OK. I assume he has, by now, been advised to say it was purchased with intent to 'gift' it to the police department.
My feelings are he was buying it to keep, as he ws worried he might not be able to buy one in the future .... but ... changed his mind when he was bombarded by media and it was pointed out how that made him a hypocrite ... but my gut feelings are often wrong. :(
He broke the law .. a felony actually ... buying a firearm with the intent to transfer it to someone else. He even checked the block on the form that says the pruchase is for HIM.
$10 says no one in the media will address that point.
Yes, this is a good smoke, for sure. They are smooth, but with ample flavor and body. I enjoyed my 'virtues' and would not pass the opportunity to obtain more!
My goodness, I would have sworn that practice is already illegal!
So we're back to passing laws that are already on the books. What a group of morons sitting in Washington.
Sounds like a plan! You'll have to figure out a portable humidor! Plastic bags will work with something inside to hold the moisture. Maybe a small humi-pak such as comes in a box of Fuentes! Or one of the small devices the various mail order plaecs sell.
If you have access to Cubans then you certainly must have something to keep them humified! LOL
5 Vegas ain't bad. I had to ssacrifice a Feunte Hemmingway maduro yesterday, sitting out in the sunroom with a huge steaming mug of good strong coffee, looking at the lake ..... Tough!
Sometimes, I enjoy the haggling more than the gun! Go figure!
Is a great deal on something you really didn't want, still a great deal???
I've heard that. I ordered a lot of Gurkhas my last order ... should have varied it up a little more. It's pretty damn uppity to tire of Gurkhas, eh?
FIRE EM UP!
Yep, same here. He knows he'll get more business that way, and only takes him about 5 minutes work.
Gotta be careful with all the fraudsters around these days.
If I buy something there, I gladly go to the Post Office and get the money order. The few things I have sold, I took only Postal money Orders.
The only way to fly on Gunbroker.
Well congratulations to him! He couldn't be in a more rewarding, but also more disgusting, area of work. And the promotion was well deserved too!
I had enough of that while working as a PO. Feels great to get someone arrested and charged, but just tears out your heart hearing what the bloody SOB did to get the charges.
The car is great with things like they are at the gas pumps ....
I'm sure he will be great at it too. He has the right temperment.
but we all know the 24/7 calls that some along with that little perk.
Sorry, double tap ..
Yep, that would be me ... 'retired' probation officer!
Tell him 'Hey' for me!
Yep, things have been double-to-triple priced since December and ammo for anything other than centerfire bolt action hunting rifles is very scarce. Seems things might be started settling back down, looking on gunbroker.com, but who knows. We may be short for another 6 months to a year.
I saw the picture of the FFX officer walking the accused shooter to her car, it looked like. The article I read stated he had been apprehended in the Mt Venon area. Yep things get worse every day .. I knew it would only be a matter of time before Stafford Co began to go the way of Prince William Co .. and turn into just another 'Woodbridge/Dale City" When I left in '02, it wasn't too bad yet.
Tell your hubby I sure would like to be able to come by and ride with him again .. and see all the sights along Highwy 1. I heard the Janna Lee area has become a Hispanic neighborhood, compared to the way it used to be. Bet that is a real switch.
Pass on a big "Be safe" to Brian and all the guys. He should be getting close enough to start thinking about retirement shouldn't he?

'Remarkable' Officer Laboy Is Alive Following Shooting
Alexandria Police Officer Peter Laboy remains in critical condition, according to the chief medical officer attending him. He suffered a 'catastrophic gunshot wound to the head.'
By Sharon McLoone
February 28, 2013
Peter Laboy was shot in the temple Wednesday morning and it’s “remarkable” he’s alive, according to the chief medical officer of Medstar Washington Hospital Center, Janis Orlowski.
Laboy suffered a catastrophic gunshot wound to the head,” she said in a news conference in front of the trauma center in Northwest Washington, DC. “It’s remarkable he’s alive today.”
Orlowski told reporters that she remained “cautious and concerned” about Laboy’s condition, explaining that after a brain injury of this type there is significant swelling around the injury about 24 to 72 hours later.
“This is a difficult time to manage,” she said, adding, “We’re very experienced in this kind of injury.”
Orlowski said Laboy has not regained consciousness, but he has moved his arms and legs and “that remains remarkable.”
She explained that survivors of this type of injury typically require months of recovery and rehabilitation as well as physical and speech therapy.
The bullet did not exit his head, she told reporters. “This kind of bullet breaks into fragments and some of the fragments were removed…It’s obvious he’s a fit gentleman and most people would not have survived this injury.

No such thing as a 'routine' traffic stop ... regardless of what the media might call 'em.
A cab driver is accused of shooting the officer. He has some past traffic tickets, and 'other charges' (unspecified).
The charged cab driver is of middle-eastern descent.

Guess the thief was hungry ..?? LOL
Hey Gail! welcome to the 'gun nut' board!
Good to see ya. Hope you've been well, and things are going well over in my old stompin' grounds!
You are always welcome to post here with your thoughts, news, views, discourse, 'of course', and to discuss (and cuss, if appropriate!) LOL
Hope to see ya around once in a while. I know you've popped off a few 'downrange', so maybe you can help straighten out this unruly bunch around here!
"GP"
BTW do you happen to know how the Alexandria officer who got shot last week is doing? Last I heard he was in the Hospiotal in DC, doing better than anyone ever expected ... by that I guess being alive was really more than anyone expected though.
"R"
Considering it just passed 100 (the basic design) hopefully the bugs are pretty much worked out by now!
I still like my wheel guns. But, there's plenty of room for the semi's too!
th - if you enjoy your's Remington 1911 as much as I have mine, then you'll consider it a great purchase. Mine is a pleasure to shoot, has never once even 'hiccupped', and ain't a bad looking lil ol pistol either! Accurate too. I had forgotten how much fun a 1911 could be, until I got my Remington last year. Glad you were able to pick one up.
In 1991, eh? Funny, that's about when I peaked!
Welcome to the board, buccaneer1961.
Yes, you can post here about your firearms and find plenty of like-minded folks with whom you can exchange ideas and swap yarns, etc. I think we even have a poster or two who have enjoyed some African safaris themselves, and one who has written a book.
You should enjoy it here. We occasionally even have a 'leftie' drop by, because a few of them do like firearms, and support the second amendment.
So come on back anytime!
Yep, definitely a bit heavy on the magnesium!
Yep, Eric is a pretty decent guy.
These 'ban' bills seem to always originate with someone from St Louis ...
He'll sign every last one of them, for sure.
Hope you come through it as relatively unscathed as did we. Sunny today, with warmer-than-forecast temps did the trick. We're pretty much back to 'normal' .. if anyone could possibly have ever considered me that way in the pst!
We'll be praying for ya!
Hi K - yep, actually they do help a lot. I just didn't really want to even get out unless I have to. Can't shovel ice .. but the sun is trying to break through and it won't take much of that and it will start to melt on my blacktop driveway.
Be safe.
Hey, b4atf, just noticed this post.
Welcome to the board, BTW.
Doesn't look like you got a response, and I am about as ignorant about single action revolvers as anyone could ever be. Just wondered if you ever found out for sure. sounds like it could be an issue, alright, just not sure what issue! LOL
I assume the cylinder 'lines back up' when you pull the hammer back? Do you have the manual for the revolver? If not you might try here:
http://stevespages.com/page7b.htm
where you'll find a veritable treasure chest of manuals an gowners guides.
It might point out something useful.
Anyway, welcome!
gp
We have about 1/2 inch of solid ice on the ground, but since it mostly fell as sleet then just a bit of rain on top to 'seal' it all into a big cake, we didn't get too much on power lines and trees and therefore still have power. I will be 'iced in' for a couple of days I imagine, but that is fine. Plenty of food and plenty of generator gas if I do need it.
Even my YakTrax aren't very effective on the solid ice! LOL
Thanks for asking! It is over for a while, so shouldn't get any worse this time around.
The closing sentence about no one ever being left alone again is so true, and was pretty much what I was thinking as I watched people jumping out of those burning World Trade Center towers.... America will never be the same again. Sure enough ... it hasn't.
I always thought the National Guard was for the sorts of scenarios where we need additional 'manpower' on the streets. Guess that's what I get for thinking!
We used very similar scenarios for training when I was a probation / Parole Officer, minus the young child.
Our's weren't paper targets, but interactive video scenes, where we used 'laser guns' that registered their 'hits' on the screen for later analysis and counting. We had a minimum of 2 hours annually on this training.
Why? Our people we were supervising were of various ages from maybe 16 on up to a few in their 70s. It was like the old question "What does an average criminal look like"? Since there is no real answer we trained on all sorts of scenarios.
I'm certain there are other types of targets used too, but they weren't shown or talked about. that just wouldn;t have been as 'attention grabbing' as a pregnant woman or a young child.
Do I condone such training? Well the reality is, no person in law enforcement ever knows what their next 'aggressor' will look like. If one hesitated due to that aggressor being a 'pregnant woman' or an 'elderly man with a shotgun', then the game could well be over, permanently, right there. (By the way, just for the record, that guy is not an 'older' guy .. maybe my age? LOL)
IMO We have enough other problems in the country these days to be worried about what sort of paper targets are being used for training. Could there be something to this? Sure, it is to get officers to overcome the natural tendency to not even think about a 25 year old pregnant woman pulling a gun. Is that a realistic scenario? Well, I have to say it is realistic. Maybe not real probable, but possible? Sure is.
Are there other, more nefarious reasons for the targets? Could be .. I just don't know.
Agree .... I sense a 'cave' coming, by Boehner .... Have to wait and see, I guess.
