Yep, I figured that, just because of the better relations Nicaragua has, internationally, and most liek a pretty good population of ex-pats ... plus, I imagine one can pretty well find anything you need down there as far as consumer goods.
If I had to go to a Dr in Africa, I went either to a French military doctor, or a Russian doctor in country. There was a good, older Belgian doctor, US educated, over in Kinshasa across the river. Talk about a fun time, I found myself trying to explain my symptoms in French to a Russian doctor whose french was no better than mine. Finally his nurse, very amused with we two chattering, stopped us and in near perfect English, said "I can translate for you sir if you wish".
I ended up getting the standard Russian treatment - a shot in the buttocks! But, hey, it helped! LOL
