Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) continued its positive sales momentum in October, marking the fourth straight month of growth across Europe. Fresh registration data from ACEA shows the automaker—formerly Fiat—recorded a 4.6% year-on-year increase for the month, reaching 157,350 units across the EU, UK and EFTA region. Despite this progress, cumulative registrations for the first ten months of 2025 remain 4.7% lower at 1,621,790 units.
The group’s market share slipped during October, falling from 15.7% a year earlier to 14.7%. For the January–October period, its share also declined to 14.7% from 15.9% in 2024.
The broader European auto market similarly logged its fourth consecutive month of growth, with total registrations rising 4.9% to 1,091,904 units. Gains were strongest in Spain (+15.9%), Germany (+7.8%) and France (+2.9%), while Italy posted a slight decline of 0.5%. ACEA noted that “despite this recent positive momentum, overall volumes remain well below pre-pandemic levels.”
Among manufacturers, Volkswagen continued to lead with a 28.3% market share, followed by Stellantis at 14.4% and Renault at 10.4%.
Sales of battery-electric vehicles in the EU+EFTA+UK region jumped 32.9% in October. Hybrid-electric models captured 34.6% of the market, maintaining their position as the most popular choice among EU consumers. The combined share of petrol and diesel vehicles fell sharply to 36.6%, down from 46.3% in October 2024.
In the EU alone, October registrations increased 5.8%, bringing year-to-date growth to 1.4%. Battery-electric vehicles represented 16.4% of the January–October mix, compared with 13.2% over the same period a year earlier.
The four largest EU markets—Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and France, which together make up 62% of the EU’s EV registrations—all posted growth. Germany led with +39.4%, followed by Belgium (+10.6%), the Netherlands (+6.6%) and France (+5.3%).
Year-on-year data to October 2025 shows battery-electric registrations up 38.6%, hybrid-electric up 9.4% and plug-in hybrid models surging 43.2%.
