Haddock, quite right-- my bad. They've sold all of 4500 Itaniums through 2002. Let's add another 3000 this year, so far, just to be generous. Okay, 7500. Now, how many are being recalled/replaced?
7500. Chipguy says it's because of the dot-bomb. Nothing at all to do with poor performance on legacy code, heat and power issues, this latest data corruption "errata" (love that term), etc. Whatever makes folks happy, I guess.
Critical mass? Yeah, and headed for the final meltdown.
