Elmer, between manufactured and sold there is this little stop called inventory. The reports show 2000 systems sold through 2002, less than 4000 processors. So you both could be right, and there can be a bunch of them in nice plastic packages, collecting dust.
That wouldn't be very good for Intel and Itanium. It is one thing if they purposely kept manufacturing low so that application developers could do their thing, but if there is a stack of inventory, then someone goofed...
