Well, first of all the naysayers said the same thing about Centrino. Even a few months after it launched, there were comments from people here saying that it "wasn't pulling its weight." They complained about the wireless chipset, with the required hardware components, and with the high pricing. But in the end, Centrino was an overwhelming success.
Secondly, I wouldn't call Viiv a marketing move... yet. All that Intel has done is announce it at IDF, and a few small vendors are shipping systems today. I'm guessing the infrastructure is still young, and the content isn't yet all available for download. As the year progresses, Intel will find the right time to give the marketing team the green light, and I think you'll see Blue Men and all sorts of advertisements illustrating the next revolution in the digital home. And it won't take long before everyone will want one.
