Welcome provbay.Katie <ggg>

I'll jump in.

I agree with you 100%. Anyone who's been reading me, knows I go ballistic at the thought of what happened on 11 Sep 01. That being said, I think we've gone overboard in the compensation department for the victims families. I get especially disgusted at the broker types who were pulling in 6 figures plus... living in McMansions, but who did not have life insurance to ensure that their families could maintain their style of living.

They could just have easily died in a car crash that day. There would be no loosening of government purse strings for their loved ones if that were the case.

I have a very liberal girlfriend who is dying of cancer. She agrees with the above point. Her children (although they are almost on their own) are about to lose a mother. No one is going to hand them big bucks as a result.

I hope you stick around. We're just trying to have a little fun here... a bit of a refuge from RANTS. If you're ever in the mood for liberal abuse, there's plenty over there. Me... I think I'll hide here. :-)

Enjoy.

I gotta agree on this one, Katie. Too many people in the country who have their hands out. I never minded giving someone a hand up, however.
Personal responsibility. A paleozoic character trait. I should write a rant on that. Maybe tomorrow.
It is my responsibility to make certain that those I love will not have to suffer when I am gone. It is not the role of government to do so.
Welcome to the board.

.<font color=magenta>Welcome To The Liberal Free Chat Zone Provbay!!!

I agree with you. This is a common discussion between my brother & I.

I mean no disrespect for the victims of 9/11 or the cops & fire personal. But! They were/are civil servants & victims and most were doing their job... most are not heroes!!! JMO!!!

A Heroe is someone who walks in the face of danger against the odds to free or aid others... those cops & firemen thought the building was going to stand. The Heroes are the ones who went in after it fell & when it was still falling... and the victims.... as sad as it is... they were victims not heroes.

As you can tell this is a sore spot for me. My brother was/is a true hero... 3 campaigns including a year in Saudi... all he got was a ride home and chest full of medals and ribbons!
