Hi Bob, Your persistence is inspiring. Makes one wonder how many miles are really on the clock, doesn't it?
Once you have the timing belt on do you then need to check compression for any wrong-doing to the valves?
Mine had never needed any of the work you're going through, but then I let mine pass to a new owner at about 75K miles.
If it gets down to transient misfires, I'd check the coil pack for problems. Doesn't it have individual coils per cylinder?
