ml -- you are a thoughtful person committed to your religion -- it is so unfortunate that it is not possible for you to acknowledge that

a law of science can never be proved; it can only be used to make a prediction that can be tested, with the possibility of being proved wrong.

Every scientist in the WORLD is working on disproving "laws of science"

When they succeed, fame and fortune are awarded

Can you image the fame and fortune awaiting the scientist(s) disproving the accepted age of the earth

Can you image the fame and fortune awaiting the scientist(s) disproving the accepted age of the sun
============
after the celebration of such as these magnificent accomplishments

we could then get to the disproof of evolution

The State and Science for that matter are agnostic, neither has to be atheistic. In the case of the State that point of view is there to protect your religious freedom. In the case of science that view is there to insure impartiality.

The Christian community in this country wants to distort those principles simply because they have a religious agenda. Many of the early Humanists were very much religious people, Erasmus, Thomas More, who saw quite clearly the problems inherent in State religions.

Suggesting that the USA is founded on the principles of the Judeo-Christian tradition merely denies the fact that it is also founded on Ancient Greek, Roman and later Italian governing ideals. It is simply a modern religious attempt to undermine freedom.

The burden of proof is on the creationists. All you need do is prove scientifically the existence of your God. Failing to do that you have no place within the methodology of modern science. Deduction is a provable method, induction is not.

The sheer size and complexity of the universe and the world around us argues for the existence of God, but our children are told that it all resulted by chance, over time.

How about a god. The point you're missing that is embedded in the first amendment is freedom of religion.

You might like to think that your God is the one that did it all but unfortunately that would be enforcing your will on everyone else.

Sorry but if you do that you've created your own regime as you note.

That is fine as long as God does not exist, but if there is a God, it is a disaster for the children taught under such a regime. They are taught day after day that the official position of the state and nation is that there is no God, no Creator, and we evolved by mere chance over time from nothing to everything.

It's your job to teach your own kids about God. I'll do the same with mine.
