George ...I couldnt agree more on Iraq being a red herring....and on that note, Red Herring Magazine has a good article in Feb. issue on how the Policies of this administration are killing the emerging stem industry, and how how other countries are taking the lead in this giganitc field, a field that could and SHOULD be the basis of hope and vision for countless millions and also be a part of the future bull market. We have a country hurting here George Bush, does anything matter but your damn war! Fear mongering, dry drunk, coke head wannbe nation builder George Bush doesn't want anything really positive talked about..he wants us in fear, paralyzed...wrapping our windows in plastic sealed with duct tape. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE. In the Red Herring article is mentioned Geron, which is hurting badly from the
psychology of fear and lies Mr Bush and friends have promoted on this issue (and others). I would like my conservative friends to try and dispute that. Yes, Geron and all stem cell comps are also hurting from dwindling cash reserves and the horrible market conditions that are NOT Bushes fault, but his policies are making conditions worse. Perhaps George Bush will develop a debilitating disease a few days too late for treatment from stem cell therapy..would be very fitting! How would he feel then, i ask that waiting an answer? (No, thats not cruel or sick, for George Bush took life away from millions by his delaying this research. Even without Bush, the science was too young to help my father who died last year of diabetic complications, and Ronald Reagan, for sure..but maybe not ME or YOU reading this. Word is Nancy Reagan wont speak with Bush over this, I commend her for her TRUE COURAGE ...courage Mr Bush? You are the worst coward.
I realize these therapies are years away and YET THEY ARE further away solely because of Geroge Bush. Can my conservative friends deny that? Where is the outrage?
This man says hes close to God, cares and is compassionate? ...he is anything but. He is an immoral terrorist to mankind. Terrorism takes many forms, his is more subtle, yet just as dangerous as more horrific examples.
Ironically, the article in Red Herring mentions a British stem cell firm that just recieved financing from none other than JP Morgan..the financiers are now afraid to give venture capital to those doing this work here.....thank you George Bush. I'm embarrased, saddened, have cried and am much, much poorer now that you are "president" ...and i voted for you, may God not hold that against me when it is time...I say that seriously.

George:

It is good policy to not confront North Korea @ this time. Not only does it take the focus off of Iraq but both the Chinese and Russians have a strong interest to not have Japan become concerned with North Korea and thus they have an interest to oppose NK actions. China is playing for political leverage and unlike previous administration kotows it just doesn't make sense at this point. Let China or someone in that region step up.

Now in IRAQ is it oil or is it the threat of chemical & biological weapons falling into the wrong hands. If there was no oil Sadamn would not be a threat as he would not have the resources to pose one.

Korea is no stronger than IRAQ from a US point of view. It is logistically more difficult to confront.

Now oil is $35 bbl and we import 20M / day. Knock $20 off the price of oil and our trade deficit drops almost $150 billion. Of course oil is important but don't fall for the imperalism arguement. This would be a boon to our economy no doubt. The flip side is the oil producing countries (remember Russia debt defaults in 98) will be in trouble.

I think of Sadamn as a little bullie kid growing up. He pushes until someone stops him. Well the UN is not about to and our previous administration let him have a free hand.

The UN is proving worthless and its now playing out for the world to see. I don't mean because they don't support us but becasue they are being played by Sadamn. Remember it took 4 1/2 years for inspectors to uncover WMD last time and that was after the son in laws defected. The only reason they are appearing to start to comply now is due to US troop buildups

Right now there is a time window due to dessert summers which is starting to close.

There is no doubt of terrorism links with Palestines. As for osamma only time will tell.

"This whole Iraq weapons issue is a red herring IMHO. After 12 years of crippling sanctions their economy is a shambles, hundreds of thousands have died, and their military is much weaker than in 1991.

Bush wants to attack Iraq because it is weak and because of its huge oil reserves -- not because of any "threat" That is why so many oppose such a war.

Note how the Bushies back off from confronting North Korea which --unlike Iraq -- has a very strong military."

George...

It never ceases to amaze me that a seemingly intelligent person like yourself could espouse such nonsense and drivel.

Just whose fault is it that "hundreds of thousands" of Iraqi's have died??? Certainly not Bush, nor the US, nor the many other nations that support the sanctions. How about Saddam??? It is he that has taken the money intended for his people and spent it all on weapons and luxury palaces for himself.

As for Bush wanting to attack Iraq for its oil and because it is militarily weak - why not Nigeria??? Why not Lybia or Qatar or Yemen??? Why not Venezuela?? Or many other countries far weaker than Iraq that also sit on a lot of oil. Your argument is not only wrong, it is utterly preposterous. And by the way - by far most Americans are intelligent enough to support Bush's intentions.

As for North Korea, surely anyone with even the slightest hint of common sense knows that you have to treat a nation that has nuclear weapons differently from one that does not. That is one of the strongest arguments for taking out Saddam now.
